I had some mysterious bites about 4.5-5 weeks ago. Most were around my waistline, groin, torso and braline. A few of them were sort of in rows, and most seemed to appear overnight. Never confirmed what caused them, though they did seem fairly consistent with chigger bites after having spent time outdoors. I still have the marks on my body, but they don't itch anymore. I haven't had any new bites since then that I can discern anyway (I have been inspecting every tiny thing on my body and though I've had a few tiny red hive-like things, nothing like those initial bites has occurred since).

But my obsession with finding bed bug evidence is taking over my life. I haven't found anything, except some mites on paper and in some fabric that an exterminator said were "just bugs." Sent them to a real entomologist and am awaiting an answer, but through a magnifying glass, they do not look like bb nymphs. I feel very confident that they aren't.

I have taken to inspecting my sheets daily and have put new white sheets on my bed since the bites, now more than a month ago. Today when searching I found one tiny brownish dot that looks like a bloodstain. So that freaked me out. But other than that, I've found nothing resembling evidence and have no new bites. I have inspected mattress and surrounding areas pretty thoroughly and plan to get help inspecting my box spring this weekend in case they might be hiding there.

In my search, I found those little mites, many small spiders (including one on my bed today), and a heck of a lot of lint.

Waking up to bug bites is pretty disturbing, and now being obsessed with some potential invisible enemy is even more disturbing. Anyone have any thoughts on how to stay calm/reduce anxiety? Or can you tell me a funny story or something? :-/
