I know it's impossible to identify bedbugs by bites alone, but I just had to express my stress somewhere...

So just the other night, I noticed these two small bumps, maybe half a centimetre apart [just measured-- more like 1/8" apart], on the side of my torso, because they were itching like mad. At first I thought mosquito bites, because I have been getting bit by mosquitoes lately. I looked more closely and noticed that instead of a big red bump which I generally get from mosquito bites, I had the two small red bumps. The itching subsided after about 10 to 20 minutes, I'd estimate.

Two days later, the small bumps are still there, no longer itchy, and less swelled. I can see now a red pinprick in the centre of each one.

I have a BB Alert Passive and there's nothing on it. I did inspect my mattress this morning (which is encased), and noticed a rip in the seam of it No idea how long that rip has been there. I taped it up with duct tape for now until I get a new encasement.

(If you haven't read my previous posts, I am concerned because my neighbour across the hall had bed bugs a few of months ago, but they were treated twice and apparently had no bites after that. They moved out last month.)

Again, I know that it's impossible to diagnose by bite alone, but I can't for the life of me think of what else these could be?? They're nothing like what happens when I get bit by mosquitoes.

    Thanks...

I wonder if the lack of replies to this means that it's most likely to be a bb bite?

I forgot to add some circumstantial information: about 20-30 minutes before noticing the itchy bumps, I had just installed my air conditioner into my window, at night. So I had my window open, screenless, for a little bit, while it was dark outside and (dimly) lit inside (bugs flying in)? Also, this means I was carrying and handling the unit close to my torso, while shirtless. Could something have crawled out or flown in to bite me? If the bite were more like a mosquito bite, I wouldn't be obsessing like this...

I'm guessing I'll just have to wait and keep my eyes peeled for other evidence. Still nothing on the passive, and I grow tired of scanning all the crevices for signs...

    Thanks for listening.
