Hi, I'm a UC Berkeley student who has been doing a fair bit of reading on bedbugs. I've looked over a lot of the literature but have not found any mention of bedbugs deficating on their hosts, though I've yet to find anything to rule out the possibility..

I'm wondering is if anyone has ever noticed bedbug fecal matter on themselves (on your skin, clothing worn while sleeping, near the bites, etc.) after being attacked or I suppose at any point in time during the infestation.

    I appreciate your help.

Hey there! I know there was a former member here whose story mentioned "purple spots" on her toes. I assumed that was feces. As for myself there were "ink spots" on some of my sleep shirts. I know now (wish I had known then) that these were fecal spots from the bugs. These spots were usually around the collar of my shirts though my bites were typically on my left arm (oh how they loved my left arm- yuck!)

    Hi,

It is technically possible for a bed bug to defecate on someone either during or just at the end of the feeding process.

Oddly enough this was captured on camera by a UK entomologist. I have permission to display the picture in one of my hidden information galleries at:

As I said though it is certainly not that common and in all of the occasions that I have fed bed bugs in the lab I have never seen it myself.

    Hope that clarrifies.

One does wonder what you expect to find on the image other than a bed bug having a poo? but yes the reality of it is both disturbing and oddly fascinating. I know there is a need for more of me out there in the world but I really don't think the world is quite ready for it.
