My baby woke up from an hour long afternoon nap in my bed with me, with a small (3mm) raised pink round bite (?) on her temple. doesn't seem itchy. no other bites around. does it sound like bb?
    thank you.

There is also another bite on her chest. I assume she got it during the same nap. Wouldn't bed bugs bite exposed parts of her body? like legs and arms? would they crawl under her shirt and bite her chest?
Someone please help me, I am freaking out. The idea of bed bugs biting my baby is just horrifying.
Also - I found a tiny dead bug in her crib, but it is black. Bed bugs are never black, are they? Even when dead?
    Thank you so much.

Get a picture and post it up for ID. The abdomen that fills with blood as it digests gets darker but the head and thorax are unaffected.

2 mm it should be a slight amber color and semi translucent.

Thanks, spideyjg. The 2mm was the size of the bite, not of the bug. The bug i saw was black all over, and dead.

You can't diagnose from the appearance of bites.

Try to get a photo of a bug. There are also resources in the links (look up on this page to "resources" link) which will help you learn to search. See the FAQs link also. Try to learn all you can about bed bugs and their signs.

So after I got a magnifying glass and a flashlight, I realized the specks I had picked up which I thought were bugs, were actually not, but were fuzz instead.

My baby has gotten a couple more bites, each time after napping in my bed during the day. I know I am not supposed to diagnose from a bite, but how typical is this of a bedbug bite on a baby: they show up as slightly swollen redness, but after about half an hour they reduce completely to a small dot, maybe 1mm in diameter. They don't seem to itch her. They disappear completely after about a day and a half. They always appear one at a time.

    Thank you.
