Bill Clinton's offices have bed bugs
(11 posts)-
Wow! And i was thinking to myself earlier that rich and high profile people probably don't get bed bugs because they mainly interact with other people with fancy, nice new places and therefor are less exposed... its good to know that its not just a circumstance of not being able to afford and chose where you live easily.
NYC needs to get on the ball and do something about this, otherwise it will infest the rest of the world...

never_again,
I agree -- New York needs to do more. Hopefully the new Bed Bug Advisory Board will soon get started.
It's true also that letting bed bugs spread is a big problem.
However, it's not a case of bed bugs being prevented from spreading from NYC to the rest of the world. They are everywhere already. They've been "bouncing back" all over the world for about ten years.

Recently, I got a PM from someone else in southern California who told me that there was a two week wait to get thermal treatment from one of the companies here that offers it.
While I don't think bed bugs are quite as clearly on peoples' radar screens in the greater Los Angeles metro area as they are in cities like New York or Cincinnati, when I got treated over a year ago, the PCO who showed me how to inspect told me that the bugs were a major problem in Las Vegas.
At that point, I knew it was only a matter of time until they became much more widespread here. Given the frequency with which a lot of people travel from Vegas to LA and LA to Vegas--and given that the bugs are a pest of exposure (i.e. if you get exposed, you may end up with an infestation), I was actually surprised it hadn't happened sooner.
The only difference that more wealthy people have when it comes to bed bugs is that they have more financial resources which may enable them to get rid of the infestation more quickly and live in less pain while they're doing so. Folks with money can afford to live somewhere else while their property is being treated, aren't subject to the whims of those cheap landlords who will only do the minimum required by the law rather than taking the time and money to actually eradicate the infestation, and can afford to replace expensive items and use more expensive treatments without having to eat ramen or beans and rice in order to afford the bare minimum.

I assume this is at the WJC Foundation on 125th… Does Clinton himself work there or just his staffers?
Bet Hillary planted this story to spook any would-be latter-day Monicas.

That is true!
BB's are equal opportunity. They couldn't care less how powerfull someone is, where they live....or how fat their wallet happens to be.
Homeless people, and the rich and famous....both share the only thing bb's want....blood!

What's the surprise? No one is protected from bbs. We're all connected. I just wrote about Clinton's bbs in the Chimpster Nation section of The Smirking Chimp. This is a political site where I'm trying to get more people interested in doing something about the bb epidemic. The piece is called "The Current Bedbug Epidemic." I add new stuff to it every few days, and I always refer readers to this site. Check it out at

Just added to the blog item on this story:
Update (8/25): our own anonymous source tells us that Clinton's offices are not the only ones in the building with bed bugs.
