Hey guys. I rent a stand alone house that is quite old, roughly built in the late 1800's. It has many cracks, crevices and niches for this little boogers to hide. To note, we are very tight money so we have a hard time getting preventitives or a PCO to help. I am a stay at home dad for a disabled son and wife so I have very little time to devote to the war against bedbugs. We have therapists and so forth at our house often, so I am guessing we got them from one of them. None have reported anything like what we are experiencing ourselves. My problems lie thus: I do not think my landlord is responsible for a PCO. We have cats so I am very not comfortable with pesticides that are chemical and not safe for anyone of us. We do not have the money for continual washing of clothes, our dryer does not work efficiently so we line dry. And we cannot afford a steam cleaner or bags or any of that. I keep up the good fight but I am growing weary. Ecouraging advice would be helpful.

I do not think my landlord is responsible for a PCO.

Unless you are 100% sure, you should probably look into this further. If you're not sure, and don't want to say where you are on the forum, you can private message me and I can try to help you find out.

I understand the concerns about pesticides being used. PCOs can use methods like steam and dust with or without chemical pesticides. Even using spray pesticides, they should be able to treat without harming a cat (though the cat may need to go away for a short period of time during and shortly after spraying).

Keep in mind that if the problem is allowed to get worse, it may eventually mean more exposure to pesticides for you and the family. So my first advice would be to make sure you know the laws in your area.
