For real. The only thing I can do is sit at my parents' house and read these forums like the neurotic mess that these bugs have turned me into. I have three long papers due within the next two weeks and I can't concentrate because I can't extract the books I need from my library at home to do the research I want to do to start the papers. That, on top of the fact that I am absolutely miserable, lack my own space, etc. I moved back into my parents' house and left all of my stuff at the godforsaken apartment (don't worry - took necessary precautions...mainly not taking ANYTHING with me and dousing myself in rubbing alcohol upon leaving my apartment). I'm kind of screwed because my lease ends in a month and I don't have money to renew my lease and stay to get this taken care of (shitty landlord, roommate who refuses to comply with preventative measures and simple treatment steps like bagging her clothes and running them through the dryer... she actually LIED to me about having done it), so immediately after exams are over I'm planning on literally throwing everything out. Can't afford to treat a moving truck. I feel like my identity is being stripped away from me. Has anyone else dealt with throwing all of their belongings away? It's dissociating, at best.

Pt 2: I'm considering buying a pack tite for my most cherished books and papers. When used correctly, have they proven to be effective? I've read a few negative reviews on amazon but I trust this forum a bit more...

Pt 3: Any recommendations of what to do with instruments? I have a cello and an acoustic guitar that I can't afford to throw away, but I'm pretty sure I can't expose my cello to heat or chemicals...or how I'd even treat a cello with chemicals anyway. It's sitting in the common room, not near any walls... maybe it should be okay/free from bugs? However, the place is absolutely crawling with bugs, so I'm not sure I trust even one inch of that place.

Sorry for venting a bit. This forum kind of provides me with my only piece of semi-sanity recently.

    Maidez,

What state are you located in? I'm wondering if you could vikane your books and your instruments if your state has that option.

I'm in Ohio. I've called a lot of exterminators and none of them use vikane, I don't think.

Hey Maidez, I really understand where you're coming from. I'm currently in the process of packing most of my belongings away for 18+ months and moving to a new apartment. But I have a trombone and a euphonium I'm not entirely sure what to do with.

I'm probably going to have to part with the instrument cases for a couple years... but I'm hoping a good thorough clean in the bath tub will get these two brass instruments clean. I am worried that eggs could stay stuck inside, if there happened to be any in there, though.

I have no idea what I would do if my instruments were made of wood, like yours are. I guess you can't even rely on high temperatures to do the trick, since you'd risk damaging them. Maybe you could take them out of state to get a dose of vikane? I'm sure you don't even want to hear the 18 months idea.

What's a poor musician to do?

I don't really have any advice to offer sorry, but wanted to let you know I am in the same boat with the school thing, I cannot tear myself away from this site or just general searching about bed bugs and I will probably end up failing this semester if I don't get this thing over with quickly.
