Bedbug Identification? (photos)
(4 posts)-
This on is a bit tough due to some distortion in the way it sits in the packing tape but any thoughts/help would be immensely appreciated:
Seemed to be about the size of a smaller bed bug. perhaps slightly squatter and darker than I would have imagined though? Was found on a curtain near my bed.

Hi,
100% not Bedbug, can't tell you what it is while away from office but I know it's a stored product beetle from the physiology of the legs.

David, Thank you. It's hard to overstate how much peace of mind you bring to people like myself.

Too bad the pictures are of a crushed beetle under tape; it would be easier to provide an ID if the tape had been pulled and exposed the beetle underneath. The more massive legs and antennae suggest a spider beetle, but not all stored product pest beetles have massive legs. Certain stored product beetle are not necessarily restricted to stored products; some can be pests of paper and wood. Spider beetles, usually the shiny spider beetle, have become a very commonly encountered beetle in households.
