Bedbug Exterminator in Los Angeles?
(5 posts)-
Hello dear support group,
I caught my trophy bedbug this morning. Can anyone recommend a reliable bedbug exterminator in the Los Angeles area? If you do pass on a recommendation, can you also provide some brief details on your experience with the company? (I've briefly looked at ISOTech and Los Angeles Bedbug Removal.) Please feel free to PM me if you prefer.
Many thanks,

Thanks for the responses. I did find some helpful posts by searching the tags. I'll add my positive experience with ISOTech and tag it for future folks. Sorry if it's long-winded.
I'm lucky that my apartment management has been on top of taking care of the problem. They responded fairly quickly and sent in ISOtech which seems to be quite reliable, and reputable. I haven't had the treatment yet, but so far, both the inspector and K9 handler have been thorough, reasonably knowledgeable, honest, and incredibly helpful in easing my mind.
Thorough:
Initial inspector did a quick search, though with flashlights, and turned over my mattress/boxspring, and couches. He didn't find anything other than the single dot I showed him on my mattress, which he confirmed as fecal matter. He said it was so minor, he'll send out the K9.
The dog came out with its handler 2 days later to sniff the whole complex (about 15 units), and the laundry room upon request. The cute little beagle didn't find anything, even in my room where the bedbug was found. The handler followed up with a visual inspection and found a few more spots of evidence (fecal matter), no live bugs.Knowledgeable/Honest:
They answered all my questions, consistent/expanding on all the information I have found with my obsessive research over the last week or 2. When I asked how strong the K9's sense was, the handler honestly answered that he (the dog) has been as efficient as finding a single bug, but has been known in very minor cases (like mine) to have live ones go undetected until actual treatment. With a medium infestation, the K9 may sense it as soon as it walks in the room. (And of course, they follow up with a visual inspection.) ISOTech makes good use of all the resources they have available- the K9s as well as human inspectors, without being overly reliant/arrogant about the reliability of either.
Also, if you're like me and like to research things to death, check out their website and sister site that gives some info on how their dogs are trained. The company seems to be actively involved in research. Impressive, and definitely reassuring. The prognosis:
Since we're in an apartment complex, they're going to treat our unit, I believe with a heat treatment, just to be safe. Since I'm not paying for it, I'm incredibly grateful for the precaution. They're helpful about advising for treatment prep. Though I would definitely recommend reading up on online, which, if you're here on this site, you're likely doing that anyway. Both the inspector and handler left with the comforting words, "Don't worry, we'll take care of it for you."
