Bed Bugs?? or something else?
(3 posts)-
Woke up Saturday morning with a breakfast-lunch-dinner bite pattern on my shoulder and another single mosquito bite looking bump on my opposite arm. I thought it was allergies so went to my health center only to be told that a pattern like that most likely meant bed bugs. Needless to say I panicked. As instructed by the doctor I vacuumed, washed all my bedding and my clothing in hot water then placed it in the dryer and I haven't seen any bites since. I also ordered DE powder, bedlam, rubbing alcohol, a steamer, and cases for my mattress and box spring so I can do a more thorough cleaning later this week. I've looked at my bedding, my mattress and my box spring (after ripping the lining on the bottom of it off) and I haven't seen not a bug, a case shell, a fecal smear nothing. Am I overreacting or am I right in tackling the possible issue this aggressively.?? I mean what else could cause a bite pattern like that?

Dear para,
WIthout physical evidence of BBs it is difficult to say that you do, in fact, have BBs for sure.
This said, you may have been misadvised.
Please maintain your vigilance, learn what you're looking for (sounds like you may already know) and post photos if you find anything.
Also, check out some monitors/traps to help in your detection efforts.
Hope this helps, good luck ! paul b.

I think I'm going crazy sometimes, oh wait most the time. I have found the skins of carpet beatle larvea only, so far. But i am really not convinced that this is why I'm finding bites. I do think I have bed bugs, and this weekend I'm going to tear up my bed and look under the box spring. I will unscrew the wood off if I have to! I looked under my box spring months ago and didn't find any evidence, but I was literally shaking when I did it, bugs just Freak Me Out, and I don't think I dug as deep as I could have. This time I'm going FULL ON and like I said if I can't see anything obvious, I'm going in.... to the screws and the wood and everthing!
The bites are only sometimes but I've been dealing with them for too long now. I am convinced of one thing, I think these little buggers can hide better than any of us want to imagine. I want to have some one come out and take care of this problem once and for all (I'm thinking of the whole "heat" thing) but I can't even begin to take that step until I find physical evidence first. My bites, though in the "meal pattern" (but not always) are not a very bad reaction at all and I wonder if I've had alot of bites that I've never even noticed. I can't spend our entire savings on a heat treatment until I find the little S#*"S!I'm posting, not to ask alot of questions right now, but just to say that I think if you're asking yourself "do I have bed bugs?" then you better start digging deep and tearing things apart! cuz you can't just lift up the mattress and call it good.
Done with wondering! ( I hope)
