I am a housekeeper at a low rent extended stay motel. A few rooms have contained bed bugs when long time residents move out. Maintenance decontaminates the rooms, but I am often the first employee in a room after it is vacated, and am the one who removes and washes the linens. A heavy infestation is quickly visible, but I am terrified I will miss them if it is just a few. Don't want to wind up bringing one of the little demons home on my clothes or in my hair. What are the chances of this? Is there anything I can spray on my clothing to repel them?

You can't really count on repelling them. I would suggest taking some of the precautions in the Travel FAQs which explain how to avoid bringing bed bugs home if exposed.

It's worth the extra effort as you can certainly bring them home or to their locations.

Thanks, I assumed the travel precautions were only going to apply to sleeping in beds. By my age I should have learned to never assume anything, lol, going to read the FAQ now.

You will of course have to be a bit creative with the travel directions.

If you can keep a clean outfit sealed in a bag at work, and change into it right before leaving, it might help. Clothing worn at work, if taken home, should be sealed until washed/dried on hot, etc. A shower before the change is preferable, but may not be possible.
