    Hi All,

I started receiving mosquito type bites on my neck and knuckles about two weeks ago in my one bedroom apartment. The weather here in NYC was still in the mid to upper 40s at that time and although I sleep with the windows open I did not believe it to be a mosquito so early in the season. I closed my windows since that night and have not noticed any new bites. My mattress shows no signs of bed bugs, eggs, etc however my sheets have these small brown lines that look like a marker was used lightly on them. This of course has made me believe I do have bed bugs and I now feel bites all the time although I haven't seen any new evidence besides one bite on my neck (not a series of 2 or 3). I changed the sheets on Monday, vacuumed everything, and woke up Tuesday morning with the same brown markings. Again, I see nothing on the mattress or the box spring. I hired a K9 team to come to my apartment this morning and as I had not discovered this forum until after the visit, I probably did not make the best selection. The dog sat once on the carpet in my living room, twice on the wood flooring in the living room (2 different spots), and once on the wood flooring in my bedroom. The dog "froze" near my box spring indicating the potential for bed bugs there as well though as the handler described they were not as developed as the ones on the rug and floor. Curiously enough the mattress, sheets, etc triggered no response nor did the vacum which was used on the same rugs and floor a day earlier (with the dirt still inside). I did not ask them to do a visual confirmation as I had not yet read the forum. I called them back and asked if they could come back to visually inspect the areas where the dog detected bed bugs. They told me that the dog is properly trained and that they most likely would not be able to show me anything on the rug or wood floor. They even confirmed that they did not think the markings were indicative of feces. However, they want to come back tomorrow to spray the floors, rugs, couch, box spring, and mattress as well as the tables on the rug for a very steep price. In addition, they want to use Cryo on my headboard. Right now the only visual evidence I've seen are the brown streaks on the sheets and the few "mosquito" bites I have / had. I've attached the pictures to the bottom of this message and I would really appreciate any advice you can provide after reading about my situation.

    Hi Adam,

I am sending you a PM to ask you to email a few of the pics through in high resolution so I can zoom in and look at detail.

Not that I think its bed bugs but I would be more confident in saying its not if I could see in the detail I am used to look at.

I would hold off on treatment until you get a definitive visual confirmation.
