Bed Bugs after a visitor? Early detection?
(1 post)-
Hi there,
I started seeing someone and went over to his house last week. We sat on the futon that he had been sleeping on for the last couple of weeks. About a week later, he mentioned that he had thrown out his bed a couple of weeks before because he thinks he had bedbugs and the bed was in bad shape (he never saw the bugs but said he'd wake up itching sometimes).
Of course I took no precautions after leaving his house that first night because I didn't know. I threw my clothes in a pile (s usual) and I had taken my purse with me. He said after he threw out the mattress, he had his carpet shampooed with hot water and started spraying some silly bug spray.
In that same week, before he told me about the bugs, he came over and spent the night in my bed. The only thing he brought over that night were the clothes on his back. And that's the night that he mentioned the bugs. After he left the next day I freaked out and had my linen and a bunch of my clothing washed. A few days later, I bought the bug lock mattress, box spring and pillowcase encasements and did a thorough inspection of my bed (I saw no signs of anything). It's been almost 2 weeks since I went to his house and have not had noticed any signs of bugs. I have a couple of itchy bumps on my back but I'm not sure if they are bites or my paranoia.
Anyway, should I buy some sort of monitor to confirm? How long before I am in the clear (he spent the night almost a week ago). Is it too soon to tell? Should I have someone come inspect? I can barely sleep because of the anxiety.
Thanks,
Natalie
