Bed Bug Pics... [a: not a bed bug]
(8 posts)-
Hey all,
Please take a look at this thing. It is 5/16" or 8 mm for you metrics fans out there.
It was found in my mattress pad which I embarrassingly have not removed in a long time. The reason why I was even looking was (long story short).... I noticed some random bites on my girlfriends' shoulder today and after doing some homework, started ripping the bed apart (not literally) and this is all I found.
Bed bug? or just gross bug?
Please help!!!
Thanks!!!!
Jerseyjoe.

Not a bed bug. It could be my sister but its nothing to worry about.
-
it looks like a bed bug killed in the process of shedding its skin. looks like its trying to back out of it. if you look up what the sheddings look like and what the bed bug looks like, the upper half is the skin, and the back half is the bug.

and the length of an adult bed bug is 5mm. so if the bug was half way out then 8mm sounds about right.

Please read the second post, which is correct.

Hi,
Just confirming its not a bedbug.
Bedbug cast skins do not look like that either they are a much more intact paper thin version of a bedbug.

I'll be the first to admit i dont know much about bed bugs. just trying to help:)Hello imfreakingout: While I and others surely appreciate your willingness to help out however, falsely identifying an insect helps no one. Your intentions were clearly well meaning but please leave the identifications to the pros.
Jerseyjoe: As many have already stated; this is definitely not a bed bug.
It "might" be an earwig with cerci that have been broken off.
