Can I use one super deep one to cover the mattress and boxspring together? Or do I need to get seperate ones? I saw on amazon these twin 14" deep ones i'm assuming its meant for both parts? A bit confused here.. Thanks.

Also, what about regular vinyl waterproof $10 mattress covers fr om bbb or something. do those work at all or not? for the boxspring anyway?

    Thanks.

Not an expert but what they don't tell you about the encasements is that they are very fragile and can tear easily.....they are meant to cover the mattress and box spring separately. Not sure why you would ever need a twin cover 14" deep but I would think if you put both inside one cover it would be prone to the mattress shifting on the box spring and tearing it. People have recommended using a mattress encasement on the box spring as they are more durable. Best thing seems to be to purchase something that just fits the depth of mattress that you have so there isn't a lot of extra material hanging down. The important thing seems to be that the zipper is bug proof - not sure if the vinyl ones are - you could try duct taping the zipper I guess. The protect-a-bed ones advertised on this site have been tested.

i got the allerzip ones from amazon; they had the best prices...around $80 for the mattress one with a separate one for the box-spring.
i later went to bbb (bed bath and beyond) and saw they had 'allergen' covers for less...so those should also work.
