Bed Bug Fumigator Specialists - Opinions
(6 posts)-
Looking at using Bed Bug Fumigator Specialists to move and fumigate in one go. Anyone have any opinions on them or Vikane gas in general? Further, are there any official sites I can use check out their reputation and such?
My future roommate who I'm moving in with is extremely paranoid and doesn't want me moving my stuff in to the new place till we're sure its bedbug free. The only alternative I can think of is renting a storage unit and keeping it there for a month till I can get in K9 inspected. Is he right? What can I tell him to persuade him it should be fine?

In general, Vikane gas fumigation is the most effective approach currently available for eradicating bed bugs with an established efficacy of 99.7%... Vikane is a treatment that you can rely on.
The gas does will not damage your possessions, or leave any type of film / residue behind.
Vikane is the ideal method for treating the contents of a rental truck... Any pre-existing bed bugs in the cargo area will be eliminated along with any bugs in the contents
It is important not to pack anything in air tight containers... Food, medicine and plants cannot be placed in the treatment area.
I work as a K9 handler in Florida..., I perform inspections for a related company... A K9 inspection is a good choice to help determine the presence of live activity before choosing to perform a fumigation.
It is hard to prove the existence of a negative beyond any doubt.. We can prove the positive case with physical evidence, but while K9 teams can be highly accurate... They are not 100%... any alerts should be confirmed with a visual inspection.
The PCO that runs BBFS is ethical. competent and highly experienced... I have performed K9 clearance inspections for them and have never witnessed a treatment failure.

I found a live bug and some eggs which I captured and destroyed respectively so they're definitely there. A fumigation is the only approach I can think of that will surely get rid of them from my stuff.

I used BBFS in NYC. Packed my own truck and drove it there, then picked it up the next day. The guy who runs it is based in either FL or OH--BBFS works in these 3 states--was super helpful and patient with all of my questions. The guys at the yard in NYC were fine but didn't give much direction about whether my truck was packed ok or not. Thankfully I read everything on this site about how vicane works and knew how to pack--I got a bigger truck than what Uhaul would have recommended and made sure drawers to my dressers were taped open, everything loose or in cardboard boxes. it's expensive but worth the piece of mind.
i read on this forum that only uhaul trucks have metal bottoms which provide a better airtight seal than trucks with wood floors are able to provide (not sure i know any companies w/wood floors but better safe than sorry.)

I have referred several clients especially those that are moving from one location or another and so far so good.

I just finished packing the truck. A partner moving company helped and I packed everytig in cardboard and newspaper. I didn't tape my dresser drawers open butt the instructions said the gas can penetrate wood. They used a by uhaul to pack everything. To be super sure and give my roommates peace of mind I'm storing everything with them for a week at which time I'll have a dog inspect everything and clear it all. Then I'll finally be able to move in.
In an interesting twist, we had a dog inspect my new place for the bbfs warranty and while he cleared al my belongings I bright with me, he scented something on my roommates air bed which I've had no contact with. I wad in his room once lady week but didn't even sit down! We coudny seenanything but to be safe he's baggig it and cleanin his sheets!
