I had my last chemical treatment in May 2009. I had not had bites since, except for those damn Carpet Beetles irritating me. I've captured them and identified them in the little magnifyer. I had a dog inspection and got the all clear in June, but I couldn't really relax afterwards. It was too soon since I'd seen one, and I had seen some scurry under the baseboards during an earlier treatment in April.

I had gotten two bites in my sleep recently. One on my eyelid and one on my forehead, and I had gotten a couple of bites I could associate with having been in my car. So I scheduled another dog inspection, and it was today.

After the bites in my sleep, I washed all bedding, inspected my protected mattress cover and sprayed the metal futon frame (still in dog dishes w/Murphy's Oil) with Bedlam. Every hole and crack. No new bites in bed.

My little house - free and clear. And there is no doubt in my mind. My car, my beloved camper van, however did not get the free and clear, which confirmed my fears. So......our local superheros at Sprague Pest Control, who just started using thermal treatment are going to heat my car up on Thursday. They're going to manage the temp so they don't kill my car and kill every single of those little bas#%*ds and my life will be free of bed bugs, but there's a hitch.

My beloved companion, his building has them as he lives in subsidized housing. The kind you read about on the forum. I'm not going to be able to have him over, or in my car, or go to his house, because very likely, he brought these into my car.

This is how bed bugs ruin lives.

Hoo - I am so sorry about your re-occurance but thankfully they are not in your apt and your van can be easily treated - I did not know cars can be safely heat treated bu I suppose it is no different than leaving it in the southwest summer sun for a few hours

perhaps you and your friend can create a de-con ritual so that he can come over and visit with you?

i don't know I just think a moratorium on visits is drastic

    anyway - good luck
