    Hey all,

I am new here. I live in an apartment building in downtown Toronto. After reaccuring, yet not very numerous or severe bites, I became suspicious and considered bed bugs. I laid the usual traps and caught some, but could not find their source.

We told our landlord, and they said a few other people in the building had complained also. Since it's their responsibility, the apartment management called in a PCO to come in on August 22nd. We were told to expect activity for 2-3 more weeks, but I experienced NO bites and NO activity. I was super relieved.

Unfortunately, here we are now, a month later, and I just saw a bed bug crawl on my desk. After no activity for so long. I dont see any bites on me, but I am paranoid again.

I know this might have an obvious answer, but what should I do? I'm guessing the PCO will have to come again, but what's the point if they're just coming in from other apartments? Shouldn't the whole building get done for it to be effective? I am confused and anxious.

    Sincerely,
    GAC

Hi - I'm in Toronto too.

What I have read indicates that it is expected that there will be a 2nd treatment if treating with pesticides. Pesticides can't kill the eggs, so they hatch, and then the 2nd treatment (and 3rd/4th etc) are timed to kill the new nymphs.

You will need a 2nd treatment and to continue your efforts with vacuuming and other protocols. Landlord should provide treatments at their cost until the issue is resolved. But you are responsible for all the labour and effort of preparation etc.

Consider talking to your neighbours. Not everyone reacts to bites and people can have an infestation without symptoms. They can also have bites, but still be trying to figure out what they are.

Suggest to your landlord that the adjoining units be inspected.
