    Coincidence or not...

A few years ago, we had a confirmed case of BBs in our Brownstone apartment (saw a few bugs and castings). We noticed them right after Labor Day. Had them treated, and had no further problems.

Then we moved to another apartment, also in Brooklyn. A few months later, ALSO right around Labor Day, we noticed some bites. We had a dog sniffer come in, he detected bugs in the couch. No visual evidence, just the dog. That jived with our experience of getting bitten on the back of the knees. Had the apartment treated twice, and no further problems.

Now, exactly one year later (AGAIN, exact same time of year!) my husband, daughter and I have all gotten a bunch of bites. They don't seem quite as big or as itchy, and don't seem to last as long as the first case. Is it just mosquitos? Maybe-- I saw a mosquito in my daughter's crib this morning! And my husband reported feeling bites yesterday afternoon while he was outside. What a weird coincidence to always happen the same time of year?!?

My own visual inspection has not turned up anything conclusive. Can you recommend someone reliable to come inspect our apartment? We just bought climb ups and will give it a few days but don't want to wait too long!

Mosquitos are bad this year and a lot of people are talking in Brooklyn right now about their bites. I would just keep a watchful eye on things (sleeping and resting areas) and monitor for a little while.

If the bites seem to develop into a pattern and start increasing in numbers, then I would recommend getting an inspection.

The city is spraying for mosquitos in every borough this year (not just Brooklyn) so Mosquitos
would not surprise me at all. Especially if you've seen them in the house.
