Found a BB in the bathroom. What sex would you say it is?

I've been holding it captive for a few hours now and I've just decided to introduce it to some DE to see how long it will be before it dies out and dies. So this is day 1 in containment with DE - I will give an update whenever it dies.

Hi,
I would say its female but it's not clear enough to say its cimex lecturalius so keep mind open for bird and bat bugs especially since it has been found in the bathroom.
I would also suggest checking neighbours on any cases where there is a bathroom find.
With the DE it can take up to 10 days to die and longer in a sealed environment.

Hi,
You need to take the lid off to get a clear focus.
The camera is focusing on te lid so the detail we need to help you is lost. You may also be able to get a clear image if you use a magnifying lens.

DavidI wish I had been smart enough to do that last night before I put DE in the container w/ the bug. I checked on her this morning and she is covered in white. Once she dies I will dust her off and set her up for another photo shoot.
I am trying to keep a log of where I find them, how old they are, how often i find them, and what time of day.
I classified this one as female. I found her yesterday - mid day (around noon) which to me means that either the infestation in this building is out of control for BBs to be in the bathroom during mid day or that it is not a BB but a bat or bird bug instead.
Since it could take up to 10days for her to die from the DE it may be a while before I get an updated photo unless I happen to find another bug but this is the first one Ive seen in about six
months or so, so I'm not sure how strong of a possibility that is.I will keep you updated.

Hi,
Good news is that it's not adult.
You will need to use a lens and get a very chrisp image of the head to tell much more detail.

DavidThanks!
I will wait for her to dry out, get a better camera, and take more/clearer photos. I know I should try to get the head and eyes but what else would you need to tell exact species?

A 5mp camera should be just fine if you use macro mode (flower button). I have a 5mp camera.
