BB from used furniture? If I throw out the furniture, will I be ok?

I just bought a used dresser from the local goodwill store. That same night I got bed bug bites. If I throw the dresser out and vacuum, wash all clothes etc, will I be ok? Should I give it a shot and see what happens or just hire an exterminator right away?
Do bed bugs typically have one hole that they call home (so if i throw out the dresser their home is gone too)? Or have they already set up new homes in my mattress, existing other furniture, etc?
And yes, they are definitely bed bugs. I caught 3 of them!

First of all, welcome. Sorry, tough break. You bought something nice, did your part to prevent waste and "boo". Please note that what I'm going to says is my opinion, rather than expertise. It's one thing to try and attribute what brought BB into your home and another for that to be your cause. It's possible that you just got your dresser (so you have a heightened awareness), but your neighbor just set off a bug-bomb, sending his refugees over to you. So you see bugs and decide that it's the dresser. Or, yes, it's the dresser. Or, you picked them up in a restaurant. That's why BB are such a mindf&#k. I'd recommend a careful examination of the dresser (while you have the contents safely bagged) and see if it looks like it has a problem.
While BB do like to "harbor", they also like to be close to their meal. With your dresser in your home, it's very possible that the BB have dispersed and taken up elsewhere in your home. You will definitely need to be diligent, and may need a pro. I would definitely not count on tossing the dresser alone to solve your problem. If the dresser :(
