Bat or Bed Bug? Expert ID Needed! [a: male bat bug](7 posts)
Can anyone tell if this is a bat bug or bed bug? Can't find any more in the typical bed bug places and noone has any visible bite. No trails in the sheets. We have had bats in the attic (maybe still do) and found this bug on a bed below one of these areas.

Male bat bug. You can see that the pronotal setae are very long relative to the eye. The front of the pronotum behind the head is not excavated very much and not flared on the sides.Professional entomologist/arachnologist. Great photos!I started and run the site but am "not an expert."

Yes, I agree.
You're such a great resource for us, Lou!!
I assume you understand that treatment protocols are different from bed bugs? BTW what camera/lens did you use? Nice photos.
Thank you so much! Yes we are working on excluding the bats and have a pest control company working with us to exterminate the bugs during the process. I used an iphone 7 plus and a carson 10x coin magnifier like this - https://www.amazon.com/Carson-LumiLoupe-Power-Magnifier-LL-10/dp/B000CAHCQS/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1492698232&sr=8-5&keywords=coin+magnifying+glass
