It's been 12 days since this started. Visual inspection of mattress, pillows, bedding etc., shows no bugs, eggs, dark spots. Nothing unusual at all. 100% of the marks found so far are on the same forearm.

Day 1: 5 large, itchy spots show up on my left forearm. They are large, pinkish areas of irritated skin, intensely itchy. Each has 1-3 tiny, soft bumps in the middle. The ones with 3 bumps are in a straight line.

    Day 2: Itching stops.

Day 3-6: Pink discoloration gets darker and more severe looking, bumps get firmer and more pronounced. Small hole in each bump becomes visible.

Day 7: Hole in the center of each bump becomes dark, almost black.

Day 8-9: Bumps begin to scab. All the pictures were taken on day 8-9.

Day 10: Scabs get bigger and thicker. One is scraped off by brushing against a shelf, beneath there is a small pit in the skin. It does not bleed.

Day 11: Two more small bumps appear on left forearm. Area around bumps is pinkish but much smaller than initial sites. They do not itch.

Day 12: The two new bites begin to scab, much faster than the initial ones did. Scabs are tiny.

These seem like really weird bites for bed bugs, based on what I've read. But apparently everyone reacts slightly differently. I also think it's weird they only bite in one place. But if it's not bed bugs I have no idea what it could be.
