how can i find out if the apartment building i live in has a serious problem w/ bbs? i live in the dc metro area (northern va) and have heard this building has a problem a few years back. it seems that if they go back and forth between aparments it wouldn't make any sense to keep treating and there is no way to stop them. i called the pco and they said that two treatments is enough for our home because they did not find anything in our home and we probably just found the first one? is there any way to know if that one i found was a female?

You can get rid of them in an apartment building, but they need to inspect and treat all adjacent apartments.

Try talking to your neighbors. I was terrified the first time I had to go over to all my adjacent units and tell them about the bedbug problem but it's so much better after you've done it. We're actually having dinner with our next door neighbor tonight so we can make sure we're on the same page regarding this treatment. We're hoping that if we work together and present a united front to our manager that we'll be able to get this dealt with.

Oh, and if you have a pic of the bug you found one of the experts here might be able to ID it for you. I'm still not very good at telling male and female bugs apart, but there are tons of people on here who are excellent at it, provided the picture is decent enough.
