Anyone in Chicagoland area wanna lend me Packtite?
(3 posts)-
Having read articles of horror in the NY Times a few times about bed bugs, I never thought that I would eventually encounter them.
When my roommate in our 2 bed apt. told me 2 months ago she had bed bugs, I had no idea they were going to ruin my life.
Right now I'm so physically and mentally exhausted from dressing and undressing into zip-loc bags and from doing so much laundry.
I'm a student of limited means, and relied on my landlord to sort this issue out. Instead, he just made his maintenance staff spray bug spray around our apartment twice, which I fear spread the bugs.
The Metropolitan Tenants Organization in Chicago told me that my landlord only has to make a "good faith" attempt to control bed bugs, which apparently is satisfied by a few hours of bug-spraying by a janitor. My lease expires in 4 weeks and I need to process and bag everything in that time before I move so that I don't spread the bugs to my new place
Anyone in the Chicagoland area willing to lend me a packtite so that I can save my books and shoes and stuff?
I would be ever so grateful! -
Hi Irish,
FWIW, the only person I am aware of who's ever made such an offer here is in NYC.
Good luck though!

Thanks NoBugs. It was worth a shot
Because I'm moving out I just need to save my belongings and hope I don't bring them with me.
I'm going to freeze a my books and belongings in a chest freezer I know to reach the right temperatures for over 2 weeks and hope for the best!
For shoes and my suitcase I'm going to nuke them with Ortho Home Defence Max and bag them and hope for the best....
I'm going to blowdry my electronics.
Fingers crossed!
