Any witnesses to how they get on your bed?
(7 posts)-
Can anyone tell me stories about actually seeing how they get on your bed, and off it? Do They drop on it as their preferred means of access or do they prefer to crawl up it? Do they exit the bed by crawling down the legs or do they just drop off the edge?
I'm interested because my isolating my bed has helped somewhat. But some nights I still get bit. I also never had any luck when I had sticky traps under the bed legs. You would think that if they used the legs for access I would have caught one bug.

when i was sleeping in the bedroom, they crawled down from the curtain rods( i think)down the curtains and onto the bed...

Excellent question. I have never seen and am very curious. I've never been able to isolate my bed.

Bed bug ninjas?
Seriously, it just seems like they materialize out of nowhere. People are often dealing with early stage nymphs that can be very hard to detect visually on many backgrounds.
Bed bugs crawl like roaches, they can't jump, fly, or hop. Although, some are reputed to skydive (base jump) from walls & ceilings at times. They are very good at finding tiny spaces to hide.
If you are still getting bitten after placing the bed legs on sticky traps, it suggests that you still have bed bugs harboring somewhere on the bed. They could be living on the bed frame or in the box springs. Or you might be inadvertently re-infesting the bed after it has been isolated for a time. They are crafty little bugs that can climb all but the most smooth surface. If your bedding touches the floor or makes contact with a wall it can form a bridge. They can also hitchhike on bedclothes or objects that are placed on the bed.

Thanks. I'm really asking about witness accounts of BBs preferred ways of accessing beds. I know they can use any means available. I want to know the most common ways. If they prefer to drop or climb.
BTW, my bed is encased, pillow encased, box spring encased, inspected with magnification regularly, pulled away from wall, legs in bowls of mineral oil, clean bedding doesn't touch the floor, frame inspected and sprayed with insecticide.
Thanks again!

I saw some crawl from my bedframe when they were in there. Otherwise?? No clue-I think I probally bring them to bed on my pajamas I get into when I get home, then go to bed. (don't change- even though you should)Even though I have the mattresses encassed and dust them with DE regurally, I still tear it apart once a month or so and vacuum the whole thing very thoroughly. The covering. They still hide in there in between the mattress and folds of cover I think.

Has anyone witnessed them crawl from or drop onto one surface to the next?
I've had my mattresses treated by the pros and I've covered them thoroughly. I threw the first one way. I regret that now.
