I have a shearling coat and a leather jacket. Not really sure what to do with them to kill the bugs and eggs. I asked the woman at the PCO and she said to let the PCO spray them. I am concerned that the chemicals will severely damage the coats. Has anyone had to deal with this issue? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,

I am not familiar with shearling as a material but with leather products you will always get a liquid damage if too much is applied. How much is too much well that depends on the garment and the condition of the leather.

I think with my leather items I would have to say I would go for close up and thorough visual inspection rather than chemical treatment. Although leather conditioner might eventually repair the damage its best avoided in the first place.
