Wow. I live in NYC, too. Does anyone know what is being done about this issue? Is Bloomberg doing ANYTHING?

Hello I'm new to this forum... I am completely terrified of these bugs...I don't like any bugs period! I work up from my nap to go to work since I work an Overnight shift... When I went to go fix my bed I saw a bug on my pillow top! I freaked out and paniced! ...I've been having bites for 2-3 weeks now and I've done research but i didn't know if i had any BB or not.. until I saw that lil bastard on my pillow... I've read on not throwing out ur bed...which i was so close to do... I have a step-daughter but she's on vacation with my partner... and I don't want them going to her room. I really don't know what to do... Like I said i've been having these bites for weeks... and I can't tell if they've traveled anywhere else in da house............
And on my bed... I didn't find anything... that was also weird.. no stains.. and the one i saw.. I couldn't see it either... that makes me seem like im crazy...I know i've read that in crowded trains anyone who has bedbugs can pass them to u.........NYC ALWAYS HAVE CROWDED TRAINS... A few weeks back coming home from work the 6 train is always crowded I mean to the point I got someone breathing down my neck.......... So i'm assuming I may have gotten them from the train...
Please any suggestions??? I'm desperately seeking help... I'm not good w/ bugs at all... I literally caught a panic attack........ I would never think I would get this things........and I did. -

http://www.cnn.com/2010/US/12/01/new.york.bed.bugs/Wow, some of the CNN readers' comments left on that story are really dumb. Scared-girl, there is research being done, but I'm not sure what NYC is doing. Check the blog; you'll see a professor who is researching a bait system.

Hating,
I would make sure what you found is a bed bug.
If you still have it, take a photo and post it to a photo hosting site (anonymously). Then link to it from here. Someone can then ID your bug.
Even if you do have bed bugs, don't start throwing things out. The problem can be treated.
