Got Bed Bugs? Bedbugger Forums » Uncategorized
Another Case
(1 post)-
So, about two weeks ago I was on a trip that had me stay in an unsanitary hotel in Ontario. Unfortunately until a few days ago I have been unenlightened to the rise in bb infestations, and as such I did not think to check my hotel's mattress for the little pests...
Anyhow, about a week and a half(oddly enough) after my trip I noticed bug-bites on my arms and neck area. I started searching online for what it could be and eventually found this site. The first two days I couldn't find much. I thought I'd found the exoskeleton of a bed-bug, but was not sure and disposed of it. I was first bitten(1 bite) on Sunday night(4 days ago, a bit over a week after my hotel stay after having been home for at least 7 days) then again(1 bite) on Monday night(three days ago) while Tuesday night I was not bitten and last night(Wednesday night) I was not bitten. Last night I sealed my mattress with a synthetic fabric meant to help with allergies and mites.
Today I began reading through this site and became paranoid... I then tore apart my bed to find one single female bed-bug hiding in the cloth of my box spring, filled with my blood. I'm pretty pissed off right now. I've already vacuumed all of the crevices around my bed with a pretty high suction vacuum cleaner and proceeded to wash my blankets and comforters followed by a long session in the dryer... However, I have this weird feeling like there is no way there was just the one bed-bug who followed me home after a week and some of wait.
Why did the bed-bug not choose to feed on me right away? It had been a week or so since I noticed my first bite and I didn't notice any while I was at the hotel... What gives? Is it possible that Monday night's bite was the first that I reacted to?
How big of an infestation do you think I am dealing with? I can't find anything... Where do you think the nest is located if not in my bed? I've vacuumed any obvious crevices, such as around my moulding....
