    Hello,

just to sum this up quickly... had two canine inspections during the summer and the bed was all clear on both occasions. The mattress and boxspring are double encased (encasements during my stay at the old apartment which had an minor infestation, brand new bed fresh out of plastic into encasements... as a precaution when I moved, added on a second encasement to both boxspring and mattress). Today, while doing my usual routine of ensuring the corners of the metal frame were still padded, etc, I noticed a small hole at one of the corners of the top covering encasement. I do not know how long that small hole was there, but I did patch it up immediately...

Since I got the all clear twice for the bed by a canine at about a two month span apart, is there a need for concern? I'm a little nervous about this and unsure... some advice would greatly be appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Hi,

I would keep an eye on things and look for any confirming signs on a 7 day inspection cycle for a week or two. If you see nothing it may just have been a false alarm.

I think however you will more than likley be OK as I would expect a K9 could scent detect even through an encasement.

Thank you, David, as confirming signs you would mean fecal, casings, and actual bugs and not bite like reactions right? So far, I haven't seen anything, not on the encasement, not on the sheets, not on the pillow cases, etc... I am also leaving to visit family come Thursday for the holidays and will be away for a couple of weeks... Should I postpone my travel or should I proceed providing I take all precautionary measures to not bring anything with me to family?

    Hi,

Yes signs such as live samples, cast skins and faecal traces.

I dont think you need to postpone your trip, as for precautions I would folllow normal travel advice of securing your bag. Checking locations before you unpack and where possible relaxing and not overly worrying about bedbugs.

Thank you David. I will be vigilant, but not over-obsessive... and will relax during the holidays. Thanks again for calming my (most likely) paranoia... It's people like you that make this forum a wonderful place to come to to either seek advice, vent, or find relief.

Merry Christmas to you and yours
