Hello, thank you for your attention.
quickly, I live in a 2 story apartment in los angeles. It is rather old. My landlord lives upstairs. About months ago we went through the nightmare of him finding bed bugs and me having a total meltdown. Anyway, after a FULL VIKANE treatment, I finally was able to sleep again in my apartment after a few months.

I got an email today where he says he found one near his bed! He lives upstairs. He said he did not want to move forward with the exterminator until he finds more!!!

I need help because I dont know what to do and I cannot stay there if he does not want to fumigate again. I also need to know what to ask him to do since the VIKANE was inneffective???? thanks in advance!

If a Vikane fumigation was performed several months ago... and this is the first sign that bed bugs are present... It is most likely that Vikane treatment was actually successful and that your landlord is experiencing a re-infestation ... Your landlord may have simply come back into contact with bed bugs and brought some home inadvertently.

In the short term... it is essential that treatment is initiated quickly to eliminate the current infestation.

Long term... it is helpful to try to identify the source(s) and take appropriate precautions to avoid future re-infestations.

A reliable K9 team can be useful to help confirm or rule out suspected locations or reservoirs that may be responsible.

Vikane is the most effective treatment available, but a fumigation will only kill bugs when the gas is present... We usually recommend that a professional perform a proper treatment with residual dust products after a fumigation to provide long term protection.

If you decide to move... you may wish to consider performing a fumigation of your possessions after they have been loaded into a rental truck to ensure that you do not bring any hitchhikers to your new residence.

ok thank you very much for your response. It is definitely difficult for me to sleep knowing that he found a live bed bug. We had a dog come by and my apartment was given the all clear from bed bugs. I, however, do not feel any better because I know that even if my landlord is given the all clear (I'm not sure yet I still have to find out) he nonetheless FOUND a live bed bug. I am also extremely concerned that if he does do a treatment on his floor that they will simply migrate to my floor. I know I should be happy that the dog did not find any but its still too close for comfort. Considering moving when my lease is up unless he does treat both floors and I am confident they will not come back. Thank you for your advice, it is greatly appreciated.
