Got Bed Bugs? Bedbugger Forums » Detection / Identification of bed bugs
Advice Please!!

Hi,
I recently found a bug that I think is a bed bug. After catching it and identifying it as bed bug from pictures on the internet I started freaking out. I had been receiving mysterious bite here and there but I wasn't really looking because I didn't think anything about it until I found the bug. In addition to this the regular exterminator that comes to spay the building twice a month told me a month ago that I should be careful because he had treated a couple of apts in my building for BBs. On top of that I have been seeing mice (more often evidence of mice) in the last 3 weeks to a month in my room and in the kitchen. As a result of finding the bug I have called the landlord and made an appointment with the exterminator.I am currently at this moment in the process of bagging everything and cleaning out my closet that only really holds clothes. I now can tell that mice really liked my closet due to all the poop I found. They even got on the top shelf which makes no to sense to me since there is nothing hanging. I'm starting to believe this might be some point of entry from other apartments.
My real question is about the bugs I am finding in there. I have been inspecting everything with a flash light and finding tiny little bugs in large quantities. They are so small that I would not be able to see them without the flash light and tend to only notice them on white clothing due to the contrast. With the flash light I see about 10 to 20 of them. When I try to smush them they are hard to kill and when I succeed it just looks like a tiny splotch. Can these be baby bed bugs?? I have only found the one adult one on my bed and have not found further evidence of them except if these tiny tiny critter could be them. Second, could the mice have brought the BBs?? Also if the exterminator is not coming for the next 4 days will it just spread more if I take this clothing out of my closet and I don't have everything else packed in plastic bags??
The only thing that gives me hope is that I found another bug in my closet that I have never seen before but I can tell it is not a bed bug. I'm hoping that the tiny bugs are small versions of the non BB bug. The other bug is about the size of a BB but had a very round and shiny body. It looks like a shiny bead with no ridges and small legs on one side. Sorry but I have picture capabilities since half my stuff is packed.
Please...if anyone can tell me what to think about this before I pull my hair out and cry!! -

That doesn't sound like a bed bug....
You really need to get a qualified person to identify the other bugs that you described & to confirm the ID of the bed bug specimen that you found.... it is difficult to speculate from a written description... I suspect the small bugs are not bed bugs.... but we can't be sure without a image of them.
Once you have a physical identification .... You can proceed with your prep work.... Did your PCO provide a prep sheet that explains the steps that you are expected to take before the appointment?
Read the FAQs to learn the questions to ask your PCO about prep work
The mice are not likely to be a factor with regard to the bed bug infestation

It sounds like a beetle spider. They are usually very shiny, just try to squeeze one it will be hard when you do it, if so it's a beetle spider don't worry about them even if one gets in your pants and bites you, they don't mean no harm.
