Got Bed Bugs? Bedbugger Forums » Bed Bug Treatment
advice

hi all.
we have had bed bugs for about the past three weeks or at least that is when i noticed that i was being bit. after 2 nights i had 5 nights and we called an exterminator and were exterminated with in the week. i saw one, killed it, and showed it to the exterminator. i have had several friends in the city who had had them and since i don't get bit by mosquitos i knew something was wrong. we are currently preparing for our second extermination.
we had wicker tables so we were advised to rid ourselves of that as well as my bed (to difficult to treat), and some of our other furniture. basically we got rid of most of our stuff and all of mine ( i was the only one being bit and i am a bit paranoid). we put them out on trash day sealed and with large signs. i think we did our job not to spread them. our clothes are in storage waiting to be washed and dried again when we move into our new place. the only thing left is our papers, books, shoes, and odds and ends. we are currently trying to clean our books. someone reccommended we put them in the microwave. i may have found a skin cast in a book which makes me nervous ( just makes me want to chuck it). does microwaving work? does anyone else have any suggestions. We are moving in two weeks and since i have not been bit after the extermination we feel like we are okay. I just don't want to take anything with me that will infest the new place. so yeah... if you have any suggestions about treating books or moving please let me know.
thanks!

I think some have discussed the option of freezing books: http://bedbugger.com/forum/tags/books
I don't have personal experience in this, but it sounds promising.
Careful inspection (in bright light) and vacuuming (with an appropriate attachment or crevice tool) might be enough. It's very tricky since you have to know what you are looking for. It will help if you have actually seen eggs and nymphs before.
Moving is tricky. You can search for previous discussions here tagged "moving" and do some careful planning. There are no rules or guarantees. I know it's very hard but it's very complex so your best bet is to ask specific questions. The discussions will help you identify what others have suggested before.
There are also a lot of FAQs here that you should probably read. (But no moving FAQ for the reason stated above.)
Good luck.
