200 bed bugs in every train compartment, on average
(12 posts)-
Well, maybe. My analysis of the Daily Mail's gem today.

I wonder why they published a picture of Giant Waterbug (Belostoma)...

I wonder why they published a picture of Giant Waterbug (Belostoma)...LOL. If the train has those, there are far bigger problems.

Ahh "London, that great cesspool into which all the loungers and idlers of the Empire are irresistibly drained." S. Holmes
Me thinks Rentokil may have taken certain statistical creativity and heated o the numbers a wee bit towards an end. Bad rat catcher no pudding for you!

In NYC, almost every subway car has BB. They're usually near the ceiling and about 4 inches wide.

Ok now I get it the ads. Actually there has been no great finding ij regard to BBs on the MTA system.

Hi,
I am also a littler confused by this number as well since I recall reading on their website the other week that they find it hard to detect below 300 bed bugs in hotel rooms which are obviously a lot smaller than a train.
I don't think it will help them to get accounts to deal with the problem though.

The potential for cabs and car services especially in some areas should not be underestimated as possible transmission sites. A few years back I did a free confidential study for a service and when I started to pick up findings they stopped the survey. This seemed to be more a problem with community black cars and cabs than limo or the name car services. Now call centers on the other hand may be a different matter. TAXI ........ TAXI ?

Well, I'll be a monkey's uncle: Rentokil's numbers were a bit funny, they now admit.

Hmmmm , odd this one, Ben certainly seemed to get the bit between his teeth and understood the nature of the problem rather well (it was almost as if he had a string of accurate information sent to him my email).
Awareness and news on bed bugs is not always a good thing when the message is not as accurate as it could be whether that's a news items or a 30 foot bill board in Times Square.

I wonder how many more "truths" promulgated by "the industry" will fall as time goes by.
