wow, this is really making me think now since everything I have heard and read has been to the contrary of what has been said here not unlike this part of this video at around 1 minute 40 second mark

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xw91TNA-No4#t=1m42s

I had my self talked out of thinking I had bed bugs now I am not so sure, I am going to have to take a really hard long look to see if i can find anything.

They will definitely bite you under the covers and can bite under clothes. It's very easy for them to get under the covers, since they're so flat. My bed bug bites take a VERY long time to disappear. I still have marks from bites that I received before Thanksgiving. They are very faded, but they are still there. My bites itched like crazy, though! If they don't itch, they may not be bed bug bites.

wow, that is surprising, almost all of the info I have read / seen says they will not, or at least generally do not go under covers or under clothes to bite you but generally only bite exposed skin.

ok, I am sure you guys have seen and heard it all, here is what I am experiencing and why it is confusing me senseless.

a few months ago, I started having red bumps appear on various parts of my body, chest, arms, upper body mostly, these red bumps for the most part do not itch, they do not seem to be in any particular pattern though occasionally there will be 2 of them close together in a sort of mini "line" patern but it is very rare , the vast majority of the time it is just 1 red bump, also it takes a very long time for these to heal, I have a few around the breast area of my chest that still have signs there after 2 months - they are not red anymore but a sort of dark discoloration where the red bites once were. -

some of the red bumps start to have flaky skin form over them which falls off eventually leaving the red bump under it still there - whatever these bumps are it takes a VERY long time heal.

I have found no evidence of bed bugs yet, but here is what truely confuses me, when these bumps started to appear, I began to sleep in my sweat pants and a T shirt, and pull my covers up all the way to my shoulders so only my head is exposed, and I am still getting the red bumps 2 or so times a week, sometimes on my forearms which may be exposed, but also on my shoulders, upper arms, and chest which is all covered by a shirt and a comforter.

I have heard bed bugs will not go under a comforter and or clothes to bite you, but could these still be bed bug bites appearing on my chest which every night is covered by both blanket and a shirt for a good month and a half now?

so my questions are how long do bed bug bites generally take to disappear / go away / heal, and is it possible to get bit by bed bugs on a regular basis under a shirt and under covers?

thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer
