I've definitely noticed this same pattern. Someone told me that sometimes a bug will inject the anesthetic stuff first and then "bite" near to that. Also, if they cannot get anything from the first place they attempt to feed I am thinking they just would move to a new stop.

Being that two reports were posted in your building on the registry in the autumn and one was suspected to have moved because of bed bugs, it is possible. Moreso, if other neighbours have them and are unaware (still experiencing a low grade infestation), do not care, or simply have not said anything it is quite possible there are more than just the two reported cases.

My entire town is I'd say about 85% attached in row homes or apartments. Many of the row homes were converted into apartments as well so people are very much packed in here. Additionally the socio economic status of the population here is dominantly quite low. We all know bed bugs do not discriminate among the classes but the connection is that people may be more likely to have second-hand stuff or not be able to afford treatment. Only three places are actually registered where I live and I strongly doubt it is accurate. Until I registered my home there was one house that had them but wasn't on there!

Maybe you could print out little information sheets which include the bed bug registry info so people are aware. There should be a law now requiring homes where pest control was called in for bed bug cases and such to be reported. Maybe not made publicly available though it would help.

We did actually bugs here in our home but it has been since just after Christmas since seeing one. Just before Christmas since seeing a live one. However, I believe we are both being bit still. Low grade infestations are good and bad. Good because they may be easier to control but so so bad because you just can't track it, not with ease anyway. Consider the possibility that you could get bit in other places too. You have to be careful going in as well as well out.

As previously mentioned, I hope you do not have them and wish you luck.

Is having a bite and a red dot nearby something that people have experienced? I do not know if I have them either but I've noticed this pattern. My girlfriend has had one bite a week and her last one had a red dot near the bite... Plus a dot in the center.

Sorry I can't offer much advice. Maybe get a passive monitor? I hope you don't have bed bugs...

Good luck.

Hi there,

Like everybody else who suspects they may have an infestation, I am currently having a major meltdown about how to detect if I've got them or I don't.
A few days ago, I was in the shower and noticed a couple of itchy spots on my stomach, about four inches to either side of my belly button. Beside one of the bites, about an inch away, there is a clear red dot. Not itchy, not swollen, but for sure a red dot.
Because I had JUST heard a story about a previous tenant in my 72 unit building moving because of bb's (still not confirmed, and of course, landlord denies it), I was a little freaked out. I immediately took to the internet and went through the first steps of identification - checked for feces, blood stains, and bugs on my sheets, in corners of my mattress, on my box spring, in the corners by my bed...and I found nothing. I did the 5 am flashlight test...nothing...However, today, when I was in the shower again, I felt a welt that was the same thing - initially, like an allergy hive - but stays itchy, with a little red dot in the middle. I'm also
Tonight I took a vacuum to every single crevice and corner and really inspected. Still, nothing. Also, I sleep on white sheets.
My landlord has set up a BB treatment for this coming week, but he's asked me to wash all clothing and basically rip apart my house in preparation.
I am afraid to sleep on my bed, nervous to go to my friend's houses (in particular pals with babies), and afraid to go to my boyfriend's house - in case I bring them to him.
Any advice on how to better determine what is happening here?
The landlord told me that the pest guys would not likely find any bugs, and that I should just clean everything and be ready to go.
By the way - this building has shown up on the bed bug registry - 2 entries on the other side of the building in Oct and Nov....
!!!!!????
What to do?
Thank you for any help....
