Hi everyone, thank you for all the responses. The pictures I posted were not the same as the samples the PCO came to pick up.
I was busy vacuuming/steaming my living room and found that one and since it did not look like the bedbugs to me, I wanted to see what others thought.

The PCO comes today and we will see what he says. He confirmed the samples from the bedroom we gave him are in fact Bedbugs.
The bites were hard for me to notice on myself, but my 3 year old has a huge reaction to them. It's very sad to look at his poor little body actually. We came home from a stateside trip and since he was off his time schedule we let him sleep with us in our bed and that's when we noticed the bites. My husband has them as well.
After throwing out the bedframe and other furniture in the room, we have put the mattress on the floor and put sticky tape around it.
My husband and I and our 3 year old have remained in the bed. We are now going on our 4th nite of no new bites, and no evidence (nothing in sticky tape, no eggs, fecal matter, bugs, exoskeletons that we can see anywhere) so I am hopeful, but we will see what happens when the PCO comes today.
Is it possible to clear them out so quickly?
Thanks again everyone.

Dermestid beetle (carpet beetle is one kind), actually a species of what looks like Anthrenus but many of the hairs have been scraped off of its body (especially at the rear end). I hope your PCO also agrees with the determinations, if not, find someone else.

Hi,

Its carpet beetles or something closely related.

It may be the source of your "bite like" reactions but its not a problem that pest control can resolve. You have to remove any larval skin hairs from the area which is best done by HEPA filter cleaning.

See here:

http://www.bed-bugs.co.uk/carpetbeetles.html

Hope that helps.

For the bug that you found in the bedroom along with the exoskeleton was it identified as a bedbug by a professional?

The reason i ask is because if you are not having a problem with bedbugs in your home then there would be no need to treat the bedroom. If there is a problem in the bedroom then you need to have the rest of the house inspected for bedbugs. Some pest control companies offer a k9 unit for inspections which is a lot more accurate then human detection.

You say 3 days in with no new bites, you can not diagnose bedbugs by a bite because everyones skin responds different to bites from a insect or anything that upsets the skin. The only way to id bedbugs is to see 1 of the stages of bedbugs, see fecal matter or castings.

Thank you so much Sleepless and Baumann. You have both helped set my obsessed mind at ease.
I still vacuumed the carpet thoroughly and steam cleaned just to be safe. Also tore the back of the sofa off to check there, and decided after that, and then reading your posts I should be able to keep both and I'm sitting in my living room tonight not freaking out about it for once.
I cannot wait for the PCO to come tomorrow.
I'm a little concerned, as we are in German and don't entirely speak the language.... I haven't studied 'bug' words yet So I worry that we aren't going to be able to communicate exactly how concerned I am about this. I mean, I've wrapped thousands of dollars worth of my new bedroom set up and discarded it a few feet from our house in the snow. No one can get to it, it's on our fenced property. We discarded it before I read that we shouldn't, and we have at least stuck it in the snow and wrapped it as well. I hope we aren't in danger of it, but I guess our PCO will tell us tomorrow.
I'm definitely worried that he will say only our room needs to be done, and I really want the whole house done.
We will see!

It is not a bedbug. I am 100 percent sure due to the fact i do bedbug inspections everyday. This is a carpet beetle larvae. Carpet beetles primarily eat fibers for more information i would google carpet beetles.

I am pretty sure it's not a bb. Looks like carpet beetle larvae to me, but let an expert come and confirm.

Hello, I'm a newbie and have been posting in the introductions section.
We are 3 days into no new bites and no signs of bugs, with me taking drastice measure and practically throwing out all of our bed room furniture.
The Pest control folks come out tomorrow.
I have taken my obsession with finding these things and cleaning out whatever I can to the other rooms in my house. I am now in the living room and have flipped the couch over, etc. to inspect.
I can find no trace of them. I have, however gone to the crevices of our carpet and found some exoskeletons and one slightly alive bug that seems to be producing the exoskeletons and cannot clearly ID the bug. I was sure about the bed begs, and the PCO confirmed that after he took our samples, but this one looks a little different to me. I will ask the PCO folks when they come tomorrow, but my obsession has me wanting to throw my carpet out immediately if anyone else seems to think this is a bed bug as well.
Please tell me what you think. It seemed a little more roly-poly ish than the flat bed bugs we discovered and the exoskeletons do not seem the same as other ones I have found where I am certain they belonged to bed bugs.
Thanks so much for all your help.
