It is being a plague already, we need DDT back for our homes, restaurants and hospitals...

This is too much. New York City is completely infested. I am getting them even on the Subway... what is the reason to clean up my home when you are getting then back when going out on the streets....

Ridicules. Our grandparents got relieve of them... and now we can't beat them... and this is 2010.

I really think they (our politicians) should be thinking about bringing DDT back.

Regards.

ugghhhhhh! I'm sorry!

We've had the same thing: trying not to get hopes up, then at 1 1/2 months BAMO a spotting! It is getting rather old! I despise these pests. Soon, these will be a plague!

So at least a couple times over the past year I started getting what I thought were hives. Each time, though, they passed. Then I moved in the beginning of October. When I was packing the "hives" came back and after I moved they got bad -- the worst they've ever been -- and didn't pass within a week, like they did before. What complicates things, though, is that they did pass -- they started going away even before the first treatment.

Long story shirt, a PCO confirmed I had bed bugs (still have a live one stuck to packing tape). He seemed like a pretty knowledgeable guy, definitely helpful, and thorough. He treated my whole apartment twice: the first time he used steam, Suspend, Gentrol, and one of the dusts behind electrical plating (and maybe other cracks and crevices). He came back 10 days later, though I'm not sure what he used the second time.

I did all the standard stuff: washed and dried all clothes and sealed them in bags, got a packtite, after the first treatment I encased my mattress and bed spring, used interceptors (still am), and so on. I don't have a lot of stuff. No clutter, I threw out a bunch of stuff when I first found out I had them, and sealed everything else I'm not using -- books, papers, magazines, random stuff, and so on (they're still sealed, in fact).

It's probably been about a month and a half now since the second treatment and everything has been quiet. I still put my dirty laundry in sealed plastic bags, packtite them after I wash/dry them, and then seal them in bags for clean clothes. I keep "outside clothes" (jeans, jackets, shoes) in bags as well.

I've been somewhat skeptical of the treatment, only because I apparently don't usually react to bites, so there's no way to know whether they're gone or still here; but I have been optimistic. Today, though, I was doing laundry. I emptied one of the sealed bags on top of the dryer to load into the washer. After I was done I went to the basement to unload the dryer and saw 3 bed bugs on the top of the dryer!

Wow...I've only ever found one live bed bug in my place (and a few dead ones -- 2 pre-treatment, 1 post treatment). And now, 1.5 months after the second treatment during which things have been quiet, here are 3 live ones all in one place that must have come from the sealed bag I emptied onto the dryer.

It totally bummed me out when I saw it. So I'm just posting to 'vent' my 'bummedness.' Blah.
