Nobugs, I can't seem to post anymore, what gives?

meremortal,

Please read:

http://bedbugger.com/forum/topic/nobugs-my-post-disappeared

Your posts were in spam, probably triggered by links. It is fine to link, but sometimes (occasionally) this happens.

Re-posting a number of times as you did will likely flag those re-posts as spam too; since you are posting the same thing again and again, the spam filter thinks it has caught a spammer.

All rescued now. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Hi Bugged58,

The first three buttons are bold, italics, and underlined, and will output the same results as in MS Word.

They are in bbcode, so may look funny to you.

Simply highlight the text with your cursor, then click the button for the formatting you want.

Then post and you should see that it worked.

This is my first post. I would like to know how to use all the items that appear above the post text box. At first I thought that the first 3 items were formatting, but when I tried using them, the selected text did not appear the way it would if I used these in MS WORD.

Hi crybaby!

A PCO is a pest control operator (they used to be called "exterminators" but this has fallen out of favor).

AKA Pest Management Professional, though Bedbuggers tend to be stuck on the term PCO (and it is probably best to have fewer acronyms to confuse newbites!)

More Bedbugger glossary here.

Additional words to be added to glossary welcomed in the comments on that post. Thanks!

How do I change the password? I will never remember the password in the email.

You need to go to your profile.

If you're logged in, scroll up to the top of the page where it says "Welcome, afraidtosleepinmybed22." Click your username there. Then you will get the profile and can edit the password.

Okay, sorry to be such a dummy, but... under the Sent messages, what is the difference between the ones with a little envelope and smiley face icon and those without? Is it one has been opened and one not?

Yes. When you read a message in your inbox (or the recipient reads one in your sent box), the little envelope icon disappears.

This post will link to instructions for various things you need to know. It will be useful to newbites and oldtimers alike. It replaces the big-bunch-of-green-highlighted-posts that used to greet you at the top of the forums.

First, you must read the Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy. If you use the site, you're agreeing to abide by them.

Next, please read the Bedbugger.com FAQs before posting. There's a lot of information there, and it can be overwhelming, so you may not be able to take it all in at once. But do have a look and see if your questions are covered.

With that out of the way, here are some other things you'll want to know:

You need to register to post in the forums. Please do NOT post your email address, street address, name, or phone number on the forums. This is for your protection.

Consider using a pseudonym for your username. Avoid posting information in discussions which you think may identify you to neighbors, co-workers, landlords, if this is a concern.

To start a new thread, click "Add new" on the top of the main forums page, or click here.

Before you add a post, you might want to know about tags. This post explains tags and how to use them.

You can also respond to someone using the "Quote" function to reply. It's not completely straightforward, so read this thread first.

How to send someone a private message (PM), or check your PMs.

How to get a cool picture (avatar) next to your name.

How to include an embedded video from youtube.

Can I log into the forums and stay logged in at the blog, and vice versa? You should be able to, but right now there's a glitch you can read about here. I hope it's fixed soon. In the meantime, make sure you are logged into the forums before posting here (or logged into the blog before commenting on the blog).

Help, my post disappeared! Was it censored? Probably not. But it might be in the spam filter. Read this and find out what to do if it happens.

Finally, a WARNING: there have been instances where people have pretended to be "happy customers" (or friends of happy customers) when they actually were associated with the companies selling a product or service. It is against forum rules to advertise your products or services here. Doing so while masquerading as a member of the public is odious and unethical. If you are concerned that the "rave review" you're reading may be faked, please PM me. You can read a thread about this here.

That's it. I will now be using the "green stickies" at the top of the forums only for essential information. If you see a second post there (besides this one), please read it!

Thanks, and welcome. I hope the forums are a source of support and information to you.

If you have problems, comments, complaints or warm fuzzies for me, click "PM THIS USER" under this post and send me a PM (private message)! Questions about this post are also welcomed below (hit reply).
