Thank you for the good advice Nobugsonme! As for my cat, I've contacted an old friend of mine that runs a kennel and she's going to keep him there for two weeks at least. He was boarded there 5 years ago. Fortunely I don't have much furniture left... but I'm not sure how I'm going to sleep. A new wrinkle has been added. As of today.. 8/24/09... maitenance can come in at any time and drill holes in the walls...remove eletric panel covers, excetra. And they forgot to tell us that the furniture had to be moved TODAY!

laureas76,

I am sorry you are going through this.

It sounds like you need someone to watch your cat on Weds (and possibly through Friday or maybe a day or two more?) next week, and that you need assistance with dismantling furniture, doing any other prep, by Weds.

I am not sure where they expect you to sleep once you dismantle the bed on Weds.

Do you have friends you could ask to watch your cat? In a pinch, groups that do cat rescue might help by getting someone to foster the cat briefly. You can probably find a local group by googling.

Is there anywhere you can sleep once the bed is dismantled?

Is there a friend who can help by taking the bed apart? If not, do you have access to any social service agencies, a social worker, etc.? This is an important thing that needs to be done, you obviously need assistance, and at this point it's a matter of getting someone to help.

In asking these questions, I am trying to be practical. The bottom line is it needs to happen somehow, so you may need to be creative about getting help with it. Ultimately, try and think of the big picture -- this will probably help you get rid of bed bugs. I really hope they are gone soon.

Hi everyone. I'm very glad to have found this forum because I have been living in Hades for three monthes. I live in a seniors/disibilty apartment complex. I'm disabled... both phsyically and emotionally and this problem has me close to a nevous breakdown. Also my parents live in the same building in different apartments. And I have a 13 yr old cat whose also been affected health wise by the stress of the situation. Now this all started in June of 2009 with my mom and me having bites all over the place. Mom and I thought it was fleas at first because of the cat. But when the pest man that had been doing bug control inspected Mom's unit he came right out and told her it was bed bugs. Well we went through the whole routine, washing and drying our garments on high heat, vaccumming the floors, and when emptying the bagless we'd use this bb spray to make sure none of the buggers had a chance to survive in the vaccum when we put it back together. Then I was told that I... a) had to throw out my furniture. and b) No one from the matinence staff could help me. I ended up getting a seven day notice..this dispite the fact that I had asked the manager for a little more time in which to buy plastic and to find someone to help get the stuff out. He said 'fine, I understand.. you've got until next Friday...then I'll have to issue a 7-day. I got the notice the next day. I got the stuff out thankfully. They sprayed my place a week later and I had to move in with my Dad on the third floor because the spray was so nasty..even though they said it was all-natural. They didn't inspect my place again and I was more fortuante then Mom. They sprayed her place Four more times and still the bugger stayed and bit. Finally in the beginning of this month we were told that a new pest control had been hired because management had 'just' found out the old pest control had been diluting the spray. By this time almost everybody in the building either had bugs or was next to an apartment that had them. The new company was going to spray on the 5th of this month... but decided to do a seminar on the 4th (primary day) instead. This next part I can't vouch for because I couldn't be there, but my dad said they had a portable metal detector there and it nearly set off his pace maker.. Anyways, we were told that they would inspect every apartment on the following Wensday. After the inspection there was nothing for two whole weeks. You couldn't even find out if you had bugs or not. Then Monday of this week most everybody got the most confusing contradicting set of instruction that I ever say. The only clear things are... you have to get your pets out of the building by next Wensday. YOu have to be ready to spray next Wensday(which includes dismantling your bed.) They will inspect next wensday (which means that everyone has to stay home for it) Then if they deem your apartment ready they will spray. On FRIDAY! If you are not ready or do not do everything as instructed.( which by the way seems to read one way for infected apartments and another way for those without. and they don't tell you wheter you do have themm or not.) then they give you a 7 day notice . Also they are very vague about when its safe to come back.. At this point I don'tknow what to do. I'm so messed up that my psych doc put me on a trank for two weeks. I'm out of money because it got spent on rplacing things and taking my cat to the vet. If anyone on the forums has advice I'd sincrely apreciate it.
