All Bed Bug professionals, please read the following:
http://bedbugger.com/forum/topic/1146

And, though you may have read the above thread when it was originally posted, please take special note of the following, added yesterday (11/12):

I would also ask that professionals remember that the purpose of this website is to share information about bed bugs. Please do not use it as a venue for fighting with other service providers. You may ask questions of other providers, and you may provide information (linked to the source of that information whether it is another part of this website, or an external website). But please do not try to sway public opinion about your business or your competitors except in regards to supported facts.

If you violate these rules, your posts may be deleted at my discretion. Gross disregard for these rules may lead to your being banned. If you have concerns, contact me: nobugs at bedbugger.com.

Since you are asking There is a NESDCA Certified dog team in the NY area. AdvancedK9Detectives (more information at advancedk9detectives.com) has recently NESDCA certified their dog Radar. Also check out this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SZQBX0M4pqk and compare it with the video above that minibughater posted. You will notice in the video that minibughater posted that the dog has it's mouth open and keeps looking at the handler. Both big No No's when conducting and effective search. Scent dogs do not work with their mouths open. Notice that even when the dog in the 2nd video jumps in the reporter lap she is still working. This is a dog focused on it's work and is the type of dog you need to look for when getting a bed bug inspection by a canine team. Also the dog in minibughater's video(according to the trainer) was not trained to discriminate between live and dead bugs, fecal matter or eggs. So you need to ask yourself what you want in a Bed Bug Detection Team. One that tells you where the dead ones are? Or one that tells you where the live ones are? I post this because this community needs to know these things to make a truly informed decision. I am not partial to one dog, trainer, company or handler. As President of NESDCA I am of course patial to dogs teams that work according to NESDCA standards. I think the average consumer looking for an inspection from a bed bug detection team may not know there is a difference in training and ability. The consumer may also not know a dog is not working when it's mouth is open. One of our Missions at NESDCA is to educate the end consumer. This alone is my reason for this post.

yes I do believe they do. Sean from the bedbug source actually told me to use one so I know for sure. I guess it takes away the guessing game.

I thought I recall once reading on here about a dog that can detect BBs. Anyone know if such an animal exists in NY?
