I'm kind of confused about how to continue with our bed bug treatment.

Here's the situation: We got 'em. Don't really know how, but we did. I'm a big fan of second-hand shopping, or I USED to be, so that is probably the source. It started about three weeks ago, when I noticed bites on me. My husband is one of the lucky ones who don't react, apparently. Eventually, I realized it wasn't fleas or mosquitoes, and put two and two together. Soon after, we found one of them on the bedside table, the day before the PCO (secretly, I like to call him the Extreminator) came. He identified it as a Tropical Bed Bug--we don't live anywhere near the Tropics, by the way. The PCO uses DE, or some sort of concoction thereof. He's been twice and treated. The second time he did a much more extensive direct treatment of our bedframe and the surrounding area with something that kills them on contact. Soon after, the bites ceased. I have now been bite-free for four nights. (I know, don't get excited.) He claims that it seems to be a light infestation. We have also gotten rid of a whole lot of stuff...a WHOLE LOT OF STUFF. We had 1-800-GOT-JUNK come and haul away a ton of clothing, pillows, blankets, old magazines, etc.

After reading this website, it seems that most of the options have pretty high failure rates. I've even seen on this site that Thermal treatment isn't guaranteed to work. I like our PCO, but I'm getting the feeling that people on here seem to think that DE is not an aggressive enough treatment. However, I notice that the failure rate for chemical treatment seems to be pretty high as well.

I've priced Thermal treatment, but was told by the PCO there that it's really more an option for people who have much worse infestations.

Should I continue with our current PCO, using the old-fashioned methods of direct kill and DE? I'm worried that it's not aggressive enough.

Has anyone on here had any experience with this method being successful? The pros are that it's not quite as toxic, and that we seem to have had a bit of success so far, and that he doesn't require the extensive preparation that the chemical treatment teams require. The cons are that I'm worried that the pros mean that it won't work.

I'd appreciate any advice...
