we live in northern Indiana, straight north from Indy near the toll road. Would your bedbug dog company include us on their route?

BuggedBob - 14 minutes ago »
That's the beauty of using a trained dog--you don't have to overkill by spraying chemicals in each room or heat treating the whole house--until you know for sure where the bugs are specifically located.

I don't know what dog team you're planning to hire, but I would just be aware that even "trained" bed bug sniffing dog teams may not give you an accurate report.

Even the best teams are not 100% accurate.

Try to get some unbiased recommendations if possible, and also make sure the policy of the handler is to seek physical bed bug evidence to confirm any dog alerts. Because an alert without this confirmation could be a false alert. It happens all the time.

Since the handler needs a commitment of at least three homeowners, at $300.00 each, to justify his bringing the dog from the Cleveland area to Indianapolis, we won't be taking any action until we find two other households with a similar problem and the funds to pay for pinpointing the bed bug whereabouts in each home. That's the beauty of using a trained dog--you don't have to overkill by spraying chemicals in each room or heat treating the whole house--until you know for sure where the bugs are specifically located.

Thanks for the reply...I doubt my landlord would be willing to spring for this as they were only willing to foot half of our $250 chemical PCO bill but I will mull on this. When are you planning to act?

If we have three homeowners, it would cost $300.00 per home because the dog and its handler are coming from the Cleveland, Ohio area. We've done lots of research on bed bug detection, and this trainer keeps coming up as The Best in the Midwest.

We have tried to treat our own bedbug problem with no chemicals and isolated heat treatment (furniture in a sauna). We need the dog to confirm there are no bugs still lurking in the shawdows.

If we were to opt for a full house treatment, it would be with Gold Seal Therma Pure Heat treatment. We spent two hours with the co-owner and were very impressed with his knowledge and professionalism.

Do you think your landlord would invest $300.00 to confirm that your PCO did get rid of all the bugs?

Gold Seal is a company that offers Therma Pure Heat treatments in Indianapolis and around the midwest. They were mentioned in this story.

I do not know anything about the company and cannot personally recommend them except to say that they were in the press and the President's comments on this article seemed sound.

If there are other thermal treatment providers in the area, I hope others will mention them also.

We live in Indy and are currently a few days past our first treatment....I am terrified. I doubt we can afford a dog, and also we are tenants, but for my information how much would it run? And if I can ask, which Indy PCO did you use and did you see results? Our landlord selected our first PCO and I am nervous as he is only coming out the once...I couldn't seem to find an expert in the area.
