You also need to consider the "whys & wherefores" on these deals. For example, why would anyone do these deals if it didn't benefit them? And, in doing such a deal aren't you "betting against yourself" ? You're betting you will get bed bugs despite your prevention efforts whilst they're betting you won't. And, what is the warranty/guarranty on the services provided? Suppose the following: > You're into your "BB insurance service say three months or $150" so far when you find you've got bed bugs. > You call and they, as promised, schedule to do another $2,000 treatment. (Note that you've just paid only $150 for a $2,000 service, right?) > They show up and do the service work. > A week later you're still getting bitten. Is a follow up service included? And, if so, how many such services are included ? Remember that saying: "There's no free lunch." Note that the math only works out for the service provider if there are a sufficient number of service subscribers to off set the cost of the few who actually need the treatment work. Overall, it sounds like a ponzi scheme/insurance sheme hybridization mutant thing. So many questions ! However, remember that it's probably YOU who is going to put in the best effort at protecting yourself and your family from bed bugs ! Hope this helps ! paul b.

Thank you sooo soo much to Nobugsonme for calling over to US Bed Bugs in an attempt to ship some monitors to me ... and thank you thank you to US Bed Bugs who decided to just send me a couple monitors ... thank you thank you!! So my monitors have arrived and I wondered if someone couldn't give me good ideas on best places to place them.... Here is my living room - where I have been sleeping. I have a "bed bug proof cover" on my matress, and a cheap bed cover on my box spring, both taped at the zipper. The box spring got a few holes from putting it back on the metal frame - and one tiny one I can't get tape to stay on. I feel like I get bit there.... I come home from work (after having only slept in my bed this morning from 5-7) and find this on the foot of my bed. Thank you. We were looking at the pack tight. However I saw mixed reviews as to its sturdiness. Although its function to do what it claims was supported. I'm sure we will buy one before our next trip. I'm thinking I will just plant kidney beans in all my rooms and breed spiders....geeze I hate these things. I will ask my pco more questions regarding what the contract actually does and of course keep reading this forum.

bed bug eggs I dont know what to do for a year I been going crazy I been 2 hospitals and 1 ear doctor I have a hole in my eardrum the eggs hatch they come out my ear and a little tickle in my ears ever night I have little bites on my body the doctor says bed bugs dont stay in your ears well they do someone please help me I can feel them on my face and they get in my eyes my eyes gets red sometime but I do have a hole in my eardrum I feel them in both ears when i am breathe in and out my ears gets sore

it has now been almost 120 days !! happy to report still bedbug free !!!!! There is a light at the end of the tunnel ppl wish everyone on here a speedy end to your bug issues! if i can get rid of them everyone can just have faith .

Dear notime, In my experience and observation those type programs sound great but may deliver less than promised. As such, there are many questions to be considered. I would caution you to do your homework and make an informed choice prior to committing to a long term service agreement/contract. Additionally, the precautionary prevention steps you are currently utilizing, while they do require some additional effort, are your first line of defense in helping to avoid the need for another $2,000 treatment. DC, KQ & Others, Please note that a "sound prevention program" and "preventative treatments" are not the same thing. As an example, DC's passive monitors and other such devices are in fact a part of a prevention program. However, there are various programs utilizing various methodologies and techniques being implemented with success by various entitites. None of us can wear "blinders" or be ignorant to the fact that there are many ways to skin the proverbial cat that actually work. Hope this helps ! paul b.

How long till you see dead ones? That depends on where they die, where you look, if you know how to look, if you know where to look and if you know what you're looking for. So, could be a few mins to never. DE - a slow killer, not my first choice in a dust product for bed bugs. Ortho - not sure which product you mean. What is the active ingredient(s) in your product (read it off the label & tell me the AI and the % thereof) ? Hope this helps ! paul b.

Dear _ _ _ ( ? ), OK, you have bed bugs. Not the end of the world but yes, a lot of aggravation and work to be done but, not impossible. Come comments for your review and consideration: > Good thing your hubsand (spelled this way on purpose so typo freaks stfu !) is hesitant. Send me a PM on that one. > Where are you located, near what large city ? > Can you get rid of or control bed bugs yourself? Yes you can but you MUST know what the h#%l you're doing ! The good news is that you can learn what to do here and elsewhere. > Note that to kill bed bugs you need to treat where the bed bugs are. Simply coating the floor with DE or some other killer product is not going to kill the bed bugs hiding in your bed, bed frame, mattress, box spring, couch, etc, etc, etc ! > Where and how products are used is more important, generally speaking, than which product is used. > Get a vac equipped with a HEPA type filter and use it to remove bed bugs from accessible harborage areas. > Directly treat the harborage areas with a suitable product/insecticide. Terminex said we should fume the entire house (we gotz termites too) and that would take care of all of the bugs. Im all for that but my hubby is slow to move regarding the cost of the process. I need some serious faqs about how to keep them from speading and slowing down the growth until i can afford to get the house fumed. I don't sleep well at all because i am terified of bugs so the thought of a bug, a bug that is VERY hard to kill, in my bed feasting off of my body is making me crazy!! I have read so much and all it does is freak me out even more! I have braid extentions and now im afraid they will start living in my extentions!! Please help!! Any takers??</blockquote>

I have seen the poo and the bugs. I have seen and killed (gross!!!!) three in my sons room and two adults in my bed last week and an itsy bitsy one in my bed this morning. The little bum was full of blood!!

Chftoniesto, we have got to be related because I am freaking out too!! The only diff is I see them crawling in my bed in the AM when I get up. I have not seen more than 3 on my bed at different times but since my room is the third room in my house to have this problem .... I am convinced that they are taking over my house. I don't sleep, I am asking my kids "whats that?!?!?!" every thirty minutes or if I see a speck of something. Every spot makes me nuts and there is a heavy layer of DE all over my house. You can see foot prints on the wood floor cause I have coated my house with the stuff. I am gonna get the whole house tented cause .... I gotta sleep!! Im falling asleep at work!! It's crazy! Do you have proof of a bedbug infestation? What spray are you using? Unfortunately, bedbugs are not usually a DIY pest. I'm sure an expert will be by soon to offer more assistance.

Hi. Thanks for that. Yes those are bed bug remains from back then. If i show you pictures of my face, i know you will say that is 100 percent bed bugs. But i wont take the picture b/c im very shaken right now, im too embarrased to even take a picture of my face b/c of how i look. I cant even leave my apartment now b/c of how my face looks. Im not exaggerating when i say i have like 30 bites on the left side of my face, more than 10 on my right and about 15 at least on my forehead. I also dont want to see a dermatologist b/c i just dont even want to be seen outside b/c of my face. I cant even leave my apartment now. I dont feel like u understand how i am emotionally right now. I wnated to kill myslef the last few days. I dont know why you still dont feel like this is bed bugs. If i show picture of my face to you now, i know there is no way you say otherwise. If i had someone show me a picture of how their face looks and it looks like mine, i would feel very sad for them. Also when i was younger, i had mild, moderate and even close to severe acne. So i know 100 percent what acne is like and these are bites. They itch and are painful and leave really nasty marks.

To catch everyone up, here's a short version of my story: Had confirmed infestation from November 2010-April 2011. Moved out of apartment into temporary sublet, threw out everything I owned except the cat and the laptop. Laptop was Vikane gassed. Moved to current apartment in August 2011. Laptop has spent most of past 2 years in a Ziploc bag anyway. (I took out the computer a few times when I needed something from it.) EDIT: There has been a passive bedbug monitor in the bag for more than a year (and it's clean). I have OCD and PTSD (confirmed). I've been in therapy for a few months. For the last two weeks I've been bringing the laptop to therapy. . . touching it, keeping the bag open, etc. This week he convinced me hold the laptop in my lap and finally, to throw out the bag. I thought this was a huge accomplishment. I told him I felt itchy, as I usually do when I'm around the laptop. I got to work. I just came back from the bathroom. There is what appears to be a giant bug bite on my inner thigh, which had no direct contact with the laptop since I'm wearing jeans. Things going through my mind: 1) There are still, more than 2 years later, bed bugs in this computer. One bit me. 2) The stress of holding the laptop in my lap triggered a "fake" bite. 3) I was walking in an area with high grass on Saturday while wearing shorts (that came down to my knees, far below where the "bite" is); this is a mosquito bite. 4) I had a similar "bite" a few weeks ago on my arm. These two bites indicate a new infestation in my current apartment--I've been wearing pajama shorts to sleep so the location would make sense. Thoughts? It's so weird that this thing would show up right when I put the laptop in my lap, when EVERYONE has told me the laptop couldn't have bed bugs in it. What is the rational way to think about this?

Preventive treatment isn't a good idea for the reasons mentioned. If you feel you will be routinely exposed, it might be better to consider reducing the risk of bringing bed bugs home by treating exposed items (eg with Packtite-- see <a href="http://bedbugger.com/2009/03/29/what-is-a-packtite/">FAQ on Packtite</a>) and increasing your likely hood of early detection (with passive monitors-- see <a href="http://bedbugger.com/2009/04/23/more-information-on-cheap-and-cheerful-bed-bug-monitors/">FAQ on bed bug monitors</a>).

Bed bugs can't be diagnosed from a skin reaction, per the <a href="http://bedbugger.com/bed-bug-bites-photos/">FAQ on bed bug bites</a>. I don't think this is a common reaction, if it is a bed bug bite reaction. I'd look into other causes.
