Seriously, given the destruction, Vikane is so much cheaper.

URGENT REQUEST, PLEASE HELP:
Hi there, we are currently working on a story about bedbugs victims to be on camera, do you know anyone who are suffering from these little creatures and willing to speak to us ASAP? This is a story for TODAY, THE NATIONAL on CBC TV. Treatment can be discussed if you don't want to be identified on TV.

meremortal - 4 days ago »
How very awful! In this day and age, things like this should NOT be happening... When will PCO treatment become more affordable so people will stop attempting self-treatment? How can we have landed on the freakin' moon in the 50's-60's, but in the 21st century we can't kill a couple of bugs?

Having the ability and understanding I have been pushing affordable bedbug and pest control services since I started my mission. I prove to customers and show customers results before accepting full payment for any of my work. Bedbug prevention and elimination is a very specialized and time consuming task. Most companies who have many technicians do not specifically specialize in bedbug elimination and most don't practice bedbug work often enough to really fine tune their ability's to see what works, what doesn't. Bedbug treatments are more time consuming than difficult, and more educational/understanding than spray spray and pray pray. Using a extermination company that does everything sometimes or usually won't fully understand this pest or won't have technicians that have serious experience battleing bedbugs. I have found that spraying for bedbugs using water soluble pesticides such as Suspend SC, Demand CS, Cy-Kick, and other synthetic pyrethroid water soluble suspensions do not absorb into the bedbug easily. Although these pesticides are effective and convenient, bedbugs do not have chewing mouth parts like ants and cockroach's as well as a tough exoskeleton thats difficult to penetrate. other pesticidesjust walking over these chemicals and not ingesting them. From my experience it seems that residual water suspensions have an overall lower kill rate. Your better off using contact insecticides followed by long lasting residual dusts. Dusts are very dangerous and should only be used by a licensed PCO with a very active daily practice of bedbug elimination and prevention.

I can't tell you how many times I've screamed at him "Stop!!! There's a bedbug on you." And I run for the tape only to find it's that darn oil speck!!!

Too funny. I. Needed a good laugh, and would love a tomato sandwich myself about now lol. I too am freaking out over every little thing I see. Crumbs, dirt, ink marks, and the biggest seems to "fuzzies" black ones from my husbands favorite loung wear! Then today in my huge freak out, I searched my sons face and neck! Just pimples, but I was convinced they were bites at first

I have had some pretty panicked moments these past few weeks.. some very funny..
I was sitting at the Computer Reading this site while my 22 month old was watching Super Why an having a good old time jumping around I look back at her and looked at my freshly Windex TV (big screen) OH MY GOODNESS 5 HUGE BB... I made a V line to the TV I grabbed some diaper wipes on the way there they are disposable and started killing them NOT BB just Chocolate milk (Spill proof sippy cups...NOT...).... *Deep breath*
I was having breakfast and some of that perfect toast just out of the toaster light butter and Strawberry Jam...As I put it up to my mouth BB Crossed my mind I Got sick to my stomach and had to throw all the strawberry jam away along with that perfect toast... ( I love Toast)..
And tonight the whole reason for thread....
I was walking past my daughter who was having her evening snack before bed time and after Dinner...( I cook a lovely meat loaf, with mash taters, peas and carrots and Mac and cheese.. And some Cheese Toast...I had mater sandwiches (Tomato sandwiches with mayo and light salt I am addicted I know gross I cant help my self...)Well MY 22 month old has to have her snack or she screams... And I pick and choose my battles with her.... very strong willed..)Well Her snack is Coco Pebbles.. I only allow Her to have what she can fit in her hand then I hide the Box...She ended up throwing them on the floor.... When I was done with the dinner dishes I walked in to the dinning room where all the kids were snacking and saw a big pile of BB... Below her feet.. Grabed her sent the kids out of the room I went psychotic... I started to reach for the OHDM( WAIT I CANT THE KIDS ARE IN THE HOUSE) and I wasn't prepared to spray... So I grabbed the next best thing my handy Murphy's oil soap...I started spraying like a mad woman NO movement... What are they already dead I thought to my self.. NOPE it was just Coco Pebbles in a pile.. *SIGH* Thank goodness...
Hope this makes you laugh cause it did me....
I had to get it off my chest..

LOL I have a dress that have red shiny circle speckles on it, u know the kinds that glitter. So I washed it and most of the shiny stuff came off and was all over my other clothes and would fall on the floor. One night I came home and turned my light on and saw a red dot on my bed, I ran over, heart beating, bout to act like Rambo but it was just one of the shiny red things from my dress, I was like wooo. Seen one on the floor tonight, gave me a scare again

I read the story But It doesn't Say if A PROFESSIONAL verified it was roaches..Roaches Look a lot like BB To the common person who knows nothing about them...

cilecto yea BUT If The bigger companies Who we all know are filling there pockets... Driving there fancy cars and living in there fancy homes Paying the low man on the totem pole min wadge..can spare a treatment or two..This would be A quicker way to insure the safety of lil ones like Jacob Whitfield. And that poor mother who Probably didn't know what she was doing to the sweet innocent child even tho She should of known better.. But probably didn't..
Then work on the safer quicker thing...
I really would like to know where the LL stood in all This and if she moved her in knowing it had bugs...
I was planning on Painting my room and the dinning room Mocha But that idea is gone now... Another bright side My spring cleaning is done and all those things I wanted to keep and were useless are gone to the lanfill ;~( ...

I panicked and had my PCO come over the other day. Apparently what I found a little pile of in the carpet were little brown rocks my son tracked on his shoes from the playground. The PCO was very nice but I have been banned from calling the PCO myself. My husband now has to check it out first and he will call if we have an issue.

LOL..I agree. My husband wears black socks to work..I'm constantly checking carpet for black specks. I don't wear high necks, etc. to bed...hot flashes..lol. And lately, the only touching that goes on in our house is him looking at every little mark on me because I'm paranoid everything is a bite. I have a pimple/follicle in my hairline..it doesn't itch, just sore like a pimple..I was completely paranoid. We've not seen anything bug wise for four weeks but I can't quit looking. My walls are a gold/tan color and I refuse to change them. I'll just have to look close with a flashlight.

Since our friendly neighborhood bedbugs moved in with us we've had to change a few things around here.
My husband is no longer allowed to wear his black socks to bed. I got tired of getting the magnifying glass and examining little bits of lint!
I rise at dawn with the sun glaring down on me since I had to replace my chocolate brown blackout curtains with white sheers.
My bedroom no longer has a Native American motif since the colors were shades of brown and beige and that makes it hard to find little black specks. Now it looks like we're sleeping in a hospital with all the white!
My nighties were tossed and I now sleep in long sleeves, high neck and long pants. Yep, does wonders for your sex life NOT! :-)) Speaking of which...who in their right mind is going to take all their clothes off in bed anyway??? Seems like inviting them in for dinner.
We no longer eat any kind of seeded bread, bagels, rolls, etc. Maybe never will again. :-(
And last but not least, most of our clothes are too tight becasue of the constant washing in hot water and drying. Oh well, I needed to lose some weight anyway.
See? There IS a bright side if you only look for it.

The PCO needs to eat and be compensated for his time and labor. The treatments need to become more effective so that PCOs can work more efficiently. They also need to become simpler and safer, so that in most cases, homeowners can self treat. There will not ve enough good PCOs to treat the entire nation. Finally, we may well need to adjust our expectations…from efforts at total eradication to the expectation that BB are everywhere and that everyone treats, just as they mop, vacuum, dust, etc.

Could government subsidies not help with the cost for people below a certain income? Heck, we bailed out all of the banks and car companies not too long ago, but we'll allow the average citizen to live like this? I have certainly adjusted my expectations, but when will the rest of society do the same? Until then, I guess I'll continue to live, ostracized, until this all blows over...

How very awful! In this day and age, things like this should NOT be happening... When will PCO treatment become more affordable so people will stop attempting self-treatment? How can we have landed on the freakin' moon in the 50's-60's, but in the 21st century we can't kill a couple of bugs?

I almost passed out I had to turn around and walk to the middle of the front yard and sit down I wont do that again...So thank you... would any one else like to say thank you to there PCO...

About 4 months was seriously considering buying some rancid bear grease to rub on myself. It sure keeps the bed bugs away (an old native solution) but would sure keep everyone away.

I thought of buying a cattle prod or a taser, but then realized I could do some serious damage to myself or someone else. The things we think of when we are desperate!

On the floating bed..... I had been contemplating installing a nylon camping hammock with hooks in the roof beams. This may be hard if you are renting I realize, but if you added a ring of double-sided sticky tape to the roof... you would be bedbug free I reckon. Now simply sleep in a hammock for 18 months and you're home free!!! Maybe you'll get used to it and never go back :)

If anyone would seriously be interested in this approach there are some decent (and comfy) hammock's on this site; http://www.eaglesnestoutfittersinc.com/
also at REI.

Oh and top ten.... when somebody in the room asks if bedbugs are real you drop everything and engage them in a half hour educational session.

That would be a question to address to the site owner, Maciej Ceglowski (whose email link is on the bottom of every page of the site).

I know that you can leave additional reports on your own address, updating the situation.

Being in the registry to me is not a problem in and of itself, since anyone can get bed bugs. It would reflect well on a place if there had been a successful treatment recorded.

I sometimes find interesting things on the Bed Bug Registry, when I poke around neighborhoods I am familiar with in various cities.

This entry on a Chicago address in the bed bug registry contains two reports:

Found 2 reports:

Submitted by "annonymous" on 09/01/2009

found 8-31-09

Submitted by "Anonymous" on 04/22/2009

Client with bed bugs at this location. 4/22/09

If people submit a report for their clients and others they know, the registry would have a lot more data.

I wondered if this was a social worker, PCO, or some other kind of professional reporting for a client who could not or would not.

Do you wear your Uggs without socks, like you're supposed to? I do, and the sheepskin itches my ankles like crazy, to the point where I have lesions- probably because I have 3 pairs and wear them pretty much everday. I know these are not bites, but rather a reaction to the sheepskin.

Last year, when I was having major anxiety about bed bugs, I actually put a pair of my Uggs in the dryer. Yes, they banged around and made a terrible noise, but the material on them wasn't damaged at all.

Maybe you chuck them in the dryer and run it for a few cycles?

I was told recently that in Africa they have Bed Bugs that are close to the size of the hissing roaches, that is BIG.

You can at least see them, but killing them is not very pretty. If you have 25 of them, at least you can find where they are and get them by putting them in a garbage bag out to the trash :)

OMG, I think you nailed the mystery! BB started getting prevalent just as those boots came into vogue! It's not DDT, it's UGG! ;)

Being up all night and watching your bed might not prove anything conclusively. BB do not feed nightly. BB prefer you when you're sleeping. BB are good at stealth, so they may be on to you being up and watching.

People react differently to BB (or not at all), so you might not be the only person in your family bitten. People also have "bite-like" reactions to things other than BB. Also, people take varying lengths of time to react, so if it's BB, you might be getting bit elsewhere.

A fluffy thing like UGG boots would provide a decent hiding place for BB, and they would'nt just come out when you expect them to. That said, it's also possible that there's something else in the boot that's irritating you (such as bacteria, fungus, build-up of salt or even something rough. Perhaps you've become sensitive to the sheepskin or something used to process it). If you're suspecting BB, perhaps consider heat-treatment or a deep freeze (i.e., avoid chemicals on something that's going to go against your skin).

As an aside (that may give you some inside) someone cited a story on this or another BB board: In the '30s a bunch of women in Dundee, Scotland all came out with bites in a line across the backs of their legs, at the same height from the ground. Turns out they all rode the same street-car, which had a woden slat reinforcing a bench, The slat was infested by BB, who would feed on the passengers as they sat on the bench. That's how BB work, LOL.

Hi all this may sound a little wierd but I have been bitten nearly every day for 3-4 weeks now and I am the only one in my family of 4 being bitten. They mainly occur on my lower left leg, although I have had 3 on my right lower leg (separate bites) and 3 on my left hip (all at the same time). I have been up at all hours of the night inspecting my bed with a magnifying glass! but I have not seen any bb. The only other thing I can seem to associate it with is when I wear my ugg boots!. Does anyone think that something could be living in them? I have had them in a clear plastic bag to see if anything wandered out and nothing did. help I am getting really stressed out with these mysterious bites.

I told most of my friends because I was freaking out and needed support. Interestingly, they all cared about me and listened, but they didn't actually listen enough to learn anything from it. They all, every single one of them, still do things to endanger themselves, like pick things up off the street, or joing clubs where you mail books to strangers and receive books from strangers, like a punk rock library book netflix type thing. Or they put stuff in storage without sealing their stuff in plastic first. Further, several of them have said things to me that proved to me they hadn't been listening at all to the information i tried to impart to them. Alas. I tried.

I definitely told people. I have two friends who knew about our problem who were going to a posh consignment shop in our area the next day. I said "There is no way I will EVER shop at a consignment shop, antique shop, or yard sale again." They looked at me and thought about it over night and ended up not going.

I did need to tell people so I had a support system in place and so people would understand that I'm not quirky or odd. I have bed bugs which is a pain in the neck, expensive and emotionally exhausting as well as physically draining when you're not sleeping.
