Lou Sorkin says of his photo:

“Flat rubber molding pulled back to reveal bed bugs hiding. Notice that bugs are at top of molding in corner where there is no adhesive.”

Lou Sorkin took this photo in a seriously infested home.

He describes it:

“Bed bug harborage site in recessed screw hole on side of textured, molded plastic desk chair. Opposite side of chair had no bed bugs in the screw hole.”

This is a helpful reminder to people that bed bugs will live in all kinds of furniture, not just wood or bed frames.  And also, importantly, to check an entire item–only one side of the chair harbored bed bugs.

Remember the first instars are only 1 millimeter long so every part of body won’t be in focus at the same time during photo session. The series includes empty nymph to full one with different views and a rear view. Proboscis and stylets separate and shows labium bends backward out of way as stylets enter skin. Only seen in 2 frontal view shots of the series. Finger and bug demonstrate relative size of bug, now clearly visible, because it has just eaten (by L. Sorkin).
