Bed bug public art project: your participation requested! »

An art student who has had bed bugs is doing a project related to her experience. And she would like you to participate!
Dannon writes:
I’m an undergraduate art student and former (I hope) bed bug victim living in Chicago. Dealing with the bugs in my apartment this fall was a fairly traumatic experience, as I’m […]

Reuse of NYC garbage [art] »

This is an interesting concept.
Artist Justin Gignac seals up NYC garbage in a solid, sealed, leakproof, see-through container. Read more about it here. You can buy one of his works for $50. It appears to be bed bug-proof. Heck, it may even have bed bugs inside. I’d pay for one […]

Bed bugs in Cincinnati YWCA shelter; Bargara, Queensland hostel; portrayed in London sleep exhibit, »

Londonist: Sleeping And Dreaming: The Wellcome Collection (exhibit on sleep includes bed bugs)
“This is an all-embracing examination of our need to sleep. . . . The very practical logistics of sleeping are also tackled: bedbugs and the luxury of a bed to oneself.” Bed bugs figure in exhibit on sleep at medical-themed-art centre in […]

Behold, friends, an animated bed bug comic »

Something to raise your spirits and make your bedbugged Sunday whole:

Note: the (awesome!) artist, kraystone, wishes to remind everyone that bed bugs are very hard to combat and are best left to PCOs.
As long as there are artists, we are safe!
Thank you, kraystone!

A new song about bed bugs »

This little song, courtesy of Jon Rolston’s blog My Robot Is Pregnant, and entitled “Bedbug Song,” reminds me of a bit of the Violent Femmes.
I like it. And as a bonus, it’s surprisingly informative. (I say “surprisingly,” since usually bed bug songs don’t contain any actual bed bug information.)
The lyrics include the following:

I […]

“bed bugs,” the movie »

This isn’t what you’re expecting. It’s a new, 17-minute horror short written and directed by Sean Carley. Warning, it’s kind of gross–it is a horror movie after all. But it’s not gross or scary in a Cimex Lectularius kind of way. It’s relevant, but I haven’t quite figured out how.
Check it […]

an honest PCO, a clever move »

I subscribe to google alerts, which bring me news of articles. They also capture a lot of people blogging about bed bugs–most of which are not very interesting at all.
This, however, was another story, the known universe. The blogger’s friend had bed bugs:
She changed apartments since the last time I saw her, too. […]

bed bugs, news at 11 »

WJZ tv news in Baltimore reports that an entire apartment building in Bel Air, Maryland is being treated by pest control operators. One tenant was quite distraught that thy would be disrupted for a three week treatment (I suppose that’s one or two follow-ups?), but I only hope that does it. The […]

bed bugs not fun anymore (part 2) »

We blogged in the past about “bed bugs” being a bit outdated as code for kiddie cute-ness.
Is anybody thinking of taking up scrap-booking? Here’s a lovely set of papers, stickers and ribbons on the bed bug theme. I’m kidding, of course: if you want to make a memento of your bed bug trauma, […]

Bed Bugs and Christmas »

Nothing says Merry Christmas like a nice Bedbug Bible Gang Christmas Show VHS tape, featuring bed bugs in a story about the birth of Jesus.

The description states:

The Bedbugs have been busy learning their lines for their biggest show of the year–a show all about Jesus’ […]

Parisian Bed Bug Art? »

This bug art, from Paris, looks like one of those old painted ads on the sides of buildings. For bugspray, no doubt.
Perhaps a bed bug mural?
