Bed bugs spread in Michigan; new bed bug manual

in bed bug treatment, bed bugs, michigan, spread of bed bugs

Remember the Bed Bug Resources (and Public Service Announcements) Michigan was using to inform citizens about bed bugs?

Now there’s a Michigan Manual for the Prevention and Control of Bed Bugs, developed by the Michigan Department of Community Health and the Michigan Bed Bug Working Group, and you can download it here.

I have run through it fairly quickly and was impressed by the range of information and advice provided.

Bravo to Michigan for responding to this concern, which is surely plaguing many in the state.

Recent articles such as this one from a Detroit news station, about tenants battling bedbugs in the Pontiac Carriage Circle building in Pontiac, MI — article which “reassures” readers that “the building has been fumigated and ‘bug bombed'” — suggest that there is a serious lack of awareness about how to deal with this problem appropriately and effectively.

(Note: bug bombs and foggers are a bad idea where bedbugs are concerned, as the new manual makes clear.)

Ahhhh yes, my state. I quickly found out about Michigan’s “little problem” when they invaded my apartment.

Ah yes…my state as well. This has been covered throughout the state lately. I’ve seen in it in the papers/newscasts in Lansing, Grand Rapids, and Detroit. They invaded my mom’s house last year after a stay in the hospital. I thought I left them behind when I moved 9 months ago. I was mistaken. I found out last week my upstairs neighbor at my apartment brought some home with him when he was out of town last. Treatment starts today 🙁

wow im looking up thing to get rid of bedbugs that are still here at carraige circle in pontiac MI. ive been here for less then a month but im ready to leave. The landlord failed to inform me of the pest problem prior to me moving in and I feel cheated. Now im spending more money then my rent is to get rid of them. Which is not what I want so im not staying for long and im upset with the pontiac houing commision for not informing me of this problem. I lived in Westland MI before this so this is a true down grade. I dont get much sleep because im up making sure my two year old son doesnt get eaten. i kill everyone i see at night with rubbing achohol in a spray bottle then clean them up i put them in a pill bottle just to close them in then throw them out.
