in bed bugs, new york city, queens

Below is a video of a really badly infested bed frame in an Astoria house, courtesy of NY Pest Pro.

Warning: not for anyone who currently has or suspects bed bugs, or who has nightmares about them. It’s pretty bad.

Sometimes people who don’t know if they have bed bugs see something like this and think it’s normal, and are surprised to find nothing of the sort under their bed. Just to be clear: this is a really serious infestation. You may have bed bugs and much more subtle signs.

They’re not serious about throwing it out are they – surely there’s some proper disposal method? Burning it?

Anonymous, when items can’t be treated, my understanding is it is best if the item is destroyed (so no one tries to salvage it) and wrapped in plastic (so bed bugs don’t spread).

If a junk service can come and collect it, this is also best. Unfortunately, in many places and situations, the only option is to leave things for routine garbage pickups.

DOES anyone know where to find HISTORICAL advertisements for bed bugs? i have looked and looked with little luck. i am a prof pco in the greater cincinnati area and am assembling a free / live public service informational series to help educate anyone interested. i will be using a power point style / public speaking / faq type format in local libraries churches or wherever. I seek VERY OLD HISTORICAL advertisments or other ANTIQUE GRAPHICS and pictures (text documents are easy to find no need for them) Like at minimum the 1950’s – 1900’s and back as far as possible – please e mail to….. ; THANKS ! ps recently attended the NYC BUG OFF pest center veterans day pest expo/ bed bug edition- andy awarded me the “long distance award” with a new GPS!!! it was a good show – and an “interesting trip” to the city (my first) LOL THANKS for any help or guidance u can give-
