Hi Erika,

Keep in mind glue traps will catch bed bugs but only if bed bugs walk across them. If they can walk around them, they probably will.

Thanks for your input.

Yes, we are definitely going to consider hiring someone to inspect our place. We placed a sticky bedbug "trap" under our bed against a wall and it has remained empty...thank goodness! It's been there for about four days so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Thanks for everything and this site!

I would suggest two things:

1/ Have your home carefully inspected. By a professional PCO who takes hours to do it, or by a trained and reputable bed bug sniffing dog. I hate to say it, but you may already have them, and since many do not react to bites, you may have no idea.

2/ Once cleared, consider caulking. Tips on caulking and other suggestions might be found in our forums. I suggest you ask there:

I live in Greenpoint and just found out that THREE of the SIX tennants in our building have bed bugs. What are the chances we get them too?? Please say "slim to none!" Although probably far from the truth. Any precautions we can take to keep them out besides putting up a huge sign that says: BEDBUGS NOT ALLOWED! I've searched for evidence(skins, blood stains, white eggs and the little vermin themselves) everywhere in our apartment and have found nothing...yet. I sleep with a flashlight next to me to maybe catch them in the act in the middle of the night. I'm really concerned because I've read many comments on your site and...wow...do not want to go through all that! Ok so I guess my question is: How can we prevent them from coming into our home from upstairs & downstairs apartments? One person upstairs has them and two apartments downstairs. The person who shares the 2nd floor with us does not have them. I just have a feeling it's only a matter of time. Thanks.
